Quote:Being a retiree of Corporate America I can attest to the vulgarities companies practice to avoid paying their fair share of taxes that every Mom and Pop company have to pay. I will give you one disgusting example we did, which was legal.

We manufactured a powdered product sold in the U.S. in 50 lb bags to industrial customers. To ship that product out of the U.S. we added water to it so we could claim that it was not a "finished" product, therefore we avoided paying taxes on it. We had facilities in other nations that dried it, then sold it. Our margins were better on the export material even after we paid transportation costs.

Oh, by the way, we saved $250 million in taxes on this single product. My company produced over 1300 different products. Do the math.

Regards..........................the Chiefjag

Perfect example Chief. Regulations and taxes are avoided by the mega-corporations. All the regulations and taxes do is choke out the Mom and Pop stores and keeps the competition limited for the mega-corporations.
Quote:Do they also get to place a tariff on goods coming from states that don't?

See, that's the problem with the Republican piecemeal way of doing things.

The constitution makes it illegal for states to do anything to impede trade between each other, but states are allowed to do things that harm the trade interests of other states, such as giving out massive tax breaks or destroying union protections to get industries to move there.

Nope, it's time to abandon the republican plan of playing everyone against each other and time to get back to the days of a UNITED States of America where the playing field is level no matter which state you happen to find yourself born in.
Communism in a nutshell.

You haven't studied Russian history I see. Vladimir would be very proud of you though, comrade.

Eric, by any chance have you read Obamanomics by Tim Carney too!?  :woot:

Lol, most people don't even realize that some of the biggest supporters of the ACA were big pharma and health insurance companies. Just like GE and all of these energy companies coming out in support of the Governments adoption of "Green Energy" technologies. Most people don't even know that NBC Universal is owned by GE. When will people learn...

Haven't read it but I've seen it first hand. Regulations people think keep the mega corporations in check just choke out the small guys that cant afford to work around them. Ultimately leading to less competition and bigger monopolies which are often followed up with more regulations to rein in the monopoly.

Maybe not Communism but, big on federal government, and to heck with the States' rights to do as they wish.

Who cares if they offer tax breaks. This is a Capitalist country, at least it used to be.
