Quote:We were not blown out in Philadellphia. The Eagles made halftime adjustments after getting killed the whole first half.

Of course, if the best guy is injured, he can't play. Jonathan Cyprien is the best guy at his position. So the statement only refers to healthy players.

34 unanswered points = blowout.
Quote:Nope but a 4th grader could tell you which gives you the better chance to win and let me tell you it's not Chad Henne.

What has Chad done in his 7 year career that gives the team the impression he gives them the best chance to win?  Please explain that to me.  What has he done to give them this faith in him?  He should have never been the starter and he's proving it on the field.

I have three 3rd graders that will attest to that.  They watched a little pre-season (and a little of the regular season so far), and one of them asked "Why don't they just play him (Bortles) instead of the other guy (Henne)?  I think he's a lot better."
Quote:That's because I can open my eyes and see the product on the field. Try doing that sometime and you'll see what we're saying.

It's not up to me to make the decision. You're the one who's claiming to understand everything so much better than the guys who get paid to do it, have years of coaching experience, see the players on the field every day, understand their strengths and weaknesses, break down hours and hours of game tape and whose job depends on making the right call.

But hey, who am I to tell you that they're more qualified than you?

You're making an argument against a point that isn't there. If you don't see that I can't help you.

Ha! I love it. Smart kids you've got there.

Who cares what I see? I'm a fan. I have an opinion sure, but I won't claim to know better than the coaching staff.
Where's Gregg Williams when you need him.

I know this. They said Blaine Gabbert was the best guy last year so he played and Chad Henne road the bench. Then they traded away the best guy to play someone they said was NOT the best guy. Then they used their first round pick to select a player they say is now, NOT the best guy.

Here's a scary thought. What if Bortles goes in and does stink it up? Dunno why I just thought of this. How bad will the dispair be then?

Seems like none of our guys turned out to be good, from top to bottom.

The in-game decision-making makes them look like a deer in the headlights.

Or scooby doo, ruh-roh...

Not bad at all, because you know, he's a rookie and all...

It is expected for him to learn from his ROOKIE mistakes while playing on the field - especially in a year that is a "lost cause" errr... "rebuilding" year.

If he's just making rookie mistakes, then that's fine.

If he looks completely lost, then we're really in trouble, and will be no matter when he gets the start.

Now what if he comes in and plays well?  What if our O-line does better with him playing?  What if we *shock* win a game or two?

Why spend the third pick of the draft on a player if he's just going to stink it up?

The promise of Bortles is the only thing keeping Caldwell from feeling the full wrath of most Jag fans. Other than that almost every area we've "upgraded" since he got here looks worse than before.

Bortles will make or break Caldwell.

Note: I think he'll be great in the long run, but people make mistakes. Nobody that makes a high pick *expects* them to bust.

That is definitely the best case scenario and I think it will make everybody pretty happy at least in the short term. It will have to translate into consistent wins ultimately.

I'd say our WR's are better, and our defense has improved some as well (though not nearly enough.)   Remember in 2012 we had just 20 sacks.  Caldwell hasn't had much time to really build our defense, because our offense was in shambles.  MJD was on the decline.  Our O-line was swiss cheese, with Methuselah at center.  Our QB options were Goofus and Goofus less talented twin brothert.  And our TE situation isn't really that good either.

I think our O-line will also be slightly better once Pazstor returns, and Bowanko gets the start.

But yes, Bortles will absolutely make or break Caldwell.  I think ti's that way with most GM's.  Get the QB.  Personally I think he's found him.  I like what I've seen so far.  And for once it's not just because the coaches and fans are saying it.
