Quote:No hot seat for Gus. Not yet anyway.
Exactly what I figured you'd say.

The seat wont be hot until it is, in your book...
I coach little league baseball.

I don't tell the kids to focus on hitting the ball.

I tell them how to stand, where their feet should be, how to adjust their body weight, raise their back elbow, watch the ball.

Do that and the hits will come.

Is that wrong too?

Seems like you know about that baseball thing...

which is the approach you would take in pop-warner football. Not the MLB or the NFL.

You know how to be a winning Super Bowl head coach in the NFL? That is pretty cool.

Gus is paid millions of dollars each year and this is his only job. He has the help of an entire staff (that he picked) who collectively make millions each year.

You are coaching little league on the side, and yet I'm willing to bet your team's record is better than 4-18.

It's the approach you take at every level. Its not even unique to sports.

Don't focus on the result. Focus on the steps needed to reach the result.

Yep, because that is what you can control.

You don't have be a SB winning head coach to see that the coaches we have will never win a SB...

Many fans said the same thing when we fired Tom Coughlin. We don't know what we have until it plays out.

you're better then that, if we're going to limit comments from people that have won superbowls the boards a pretty baron place no?

Not at all, when you're coaching little league you're teaching the fundamentals. When they get to high school you expect them to know the fundamentals and your teaching strategy, technique and so on. It only gets more advance in the Pros, you're not coaching these guys up. The reason any given team can win in the NFL is because the talent is pretty even across the board, these are PROFESSIONAL players. Gus is focused on taking a C player and trying to make him a B player or an A player, instead of focusing on how to utilize his C players strength to attack the other teams B or C players weakness.

Everything about the game can be controlled. A perfect example is our instance on a ZBS that doesn't suite the talent we have on the roster.

I don't disagree with you. But some of these Sunday evening quarterbacks are hilarious. Bended knees? Doesn't care about winning?

LOL, I'll take my chances

Smile. Fair enough. I really want Gus to succeed. Is he the right coach? I don't know. I know many pretend to know, but I really don't.

And that is what gets me. I'm okay with criticism (like anyone cares), but some things that are said make you want to Wallbash.

You can control aspects of the game. But once it starts, Gus doesn't control a player missing or making a tackle. That happens in practice.

Don't overestimate me.

Many fans also said that Gene Smith just needed more time. So that works both ways.

I just don't see why anyone thinks his job should be safe at this point. I think his job should depend on results from here on out.

Agreed. Whether I think his job should be safe doesn't really matter. In my opinion, he will be our coach next year. Not my decision.

Agreed... Look, I'm not hateful over hear. I want Gus and the team to succeed...

But I don't think Gus or the Coordinators he brought in are really the caliber needed to create a truly winning team.

This is not the a scenario similar to Belicheat or Coughlin. Those guys were actually good and didn't really make bonehead decisions in terms of game planning or game management. In terms of Belecheat, he was in an organization that was circling the drain.

In terms of Coughlin, he was money, but overstayed his welcome (to the demise of the Jaguars)...

Gus isn't that same caliber. It's obvious to see now, at least to me.

Maybe I'm wrong... But man, he's making mistakes and slow to make decisions that even I can see. That MUST be a bad sign. I'm on the outside looking in, and I can tell not to challenge some calls... He waits for an "injury" to shut down Gerhart...

He's still not utilizing Ace in the passing game.

They've only now started using Shoelace in the proper way.

It's only in the 2nd half that they started playing bump and run and rushing 5 on the D side.

I mean, these things make me way worried about what caliber coaching we have on this team. And actually, I'm far beyond worried.

I agree on Fisch. Never a fan of his.
