The call for Rodgers head seems like it is gaining some steam in the media.
Hypothetically speaking, what happens to the London effort and some of the other ridiculous things he has in progress if Goodell gets the boot?
Kill the head and the body dies. As goes Goodell, so goes London. That's his baby.

Doubt he'll be fired though. The outcry would have to be way too much for the owners to do it. I think the Ravens anticipated that Goodell would suspend him indefinitely, and cut him in order to save face. Both actions will probably be enough to alleviate public outcry over this. Though the two game suspension was a ridiculous decision. Then again, it's not as if Taglibue was any more harsh. Of course Goodell has been known for being harsher. So this doesn't make him look good.

The problem is, I think the NFL is close to maxing out it's revenue streams and the owners want to keep getting fatter. With rediculous proposals like making bands pay to perform at the SB and the London effort, you have to wonder what else there is. The NFL is already a 52 week a year sport these days.
I seriously doubt this happens.

I think the opposite is happening.
If it leads to the playoffs not being expanded, that by itself would be cause for celebration!
If Goodell gets canned.... i'll offer Ray Rice a job.
If Goodell gets fired because of this Ray Rice fiasco (and the politically correct bullies are gunning for his job right now), look for the league to do their best pandering by floating a name out there as his replacement who happens to be a woman.

Goodell has been a decent commissioner. The outcry over the way the game is changing is overblown. You can blame the former players's lawsuit against the league for that. If Goodell hadn't helped bring along some of the changes, there might not be a league at all down the road. I belive his mantra is "to protect the shield" and if you examine with an open mind most of the decisions that he makes, you would find that they very much are centered around that.
I think the London thing is more about the other owners than it is about him. He's their employee. Those that stand to gain the most by creating additional revenue streams are the owners. Revenue streams at home are solid. The greatest potential for growth of the sport and of future revenue streams lies in Europe. Follow the money... it will lead you back to the owners.
You can also blame any excessive power he may have been given on the players association as they negotiated it. I do agree with one criticism and that is the expanded playoffs which I am against. But again, I'm sure that has more to do with the owners collectively moreso than it has to do with him. Follow the money.
Lastly on the Ray Rice video fiasco... if it comes to light that the NFL saw the video and only ended up giving Rice the 2 game suspension and only further acted once the video became public, then they will definitely have some splainin' to do. Not sure if I'd call for anyone's head over it but will be interesting to see if any more facts come out. The fact that the NFL didn't ask the casino for the tape doesn't bother me. They asked the cops for all evidence regarding the case and the tape was apparently not part of that. The police may not have attempted to acquire the tape because I don't believe any charges were filed nor was he charged with a crime. Someone correct me on that if I'm wrong. But ask yourself this: Would any other employer call up the casino and ask for a tape of you beating up your significant other?
I do have a problem with how the NFL has handled it since the video came to light, however. They've circumvented their own policy which was to have a 6 game suspension for a first domestic violence offence and a lifetime ban for a 2nd infraction. Ray Rice got neither of those as he was suspended indefinitely which is not necessarily the same thing as a lifetime ban. How does the NFL have the authority to write their own policy for Ray Rice's specific case? You can bet the players union is going to contest it and probably win and have it reduced to 6 games or back to the 2 that he originally had even though he may have trouble finding another team to pick him up right away. I do think he'll play again once this blows over, though he''s nearing over-the-hill status so who knows.

If Roger Goodell is fired or resigns, my guess is the NFL owners will be divided on whether they want Condi to be the next Commissioner. I think she will have strong support from some owners, while a significant number of owners will have doubts that she's qualified for the job. When the dust settles, my hunch is Condi won't become the next NFL Commissioner.
If hes fired, It wont become National Flag Football Leauge in a couple of years. :teehee:

Yeah, nothing in that video makes it any worse than what we already knew happened. The outrage over seeing it shouldn't be any worse than what we already went through with this.

No matter how good a case the NFLPA might have, they won't touch this with a 10 foot pole because the PC machinery would shred them. They won't defend him any more than they would a guy like Incognito.
I wouldnt be surprised to see a lawsuit brought against the NFL for mishandling the situation. the two different punishments is exactly the same as double jeopardy.
just because you saw him do what he actually already admitted you get to punish him more severly?
what about ray mcdonald? gonna wait a couple weeks and then suspend him indefinitely too?

The NFL is trying to get ahead of the politically correct crowd that now has a video showing them exactly what happened. If you don't think the mere threat of pressure from feminist organizations isn't enough for the league to hit the panic button and completely change the punishment, you don't know this NFL. They're more concerned about not offending anyone than they are about consistency. Feminist organizations have already started demanding Goodell step down and a "special prosecutor" be tasked with investigating what the league knew, when they knew it, and how much was covered up in order to get past this. They're not letting it go.
