Quote:Who were his doubters ?  I thought everyone loved the pick.
Have to say, an FSU fan, I was skeptical. I didn't think he performed as well in last year at school. Often it felt like he was just going through the motions.

Just goes to show you how little i know about football. I'm happy to eat crow.

They were few.  Mostly folks that insisted he either couldn't play corner or those that thought his lack of "hands" would be a major detriment.

It wasn't just this board.  There were a few national media guys that thought boards had him too high.

In the grand scheme of things, he was universally lauded.
Still eating crow for lack of hands department.

It's still a legitimate gripe to some degree, but it certainly didn't stop him from playing very well.  Hopefully he keeps improving in that area.
I'm honestly not worried about our corners. I feel like our secondary as a whole is above average.

Gipson is the one that worries me. He was invisible all year.

You realize the starting #2 CB as of now on the depth chart is Aaron Colvin, right?

Gipson disappeared a bit, but that tends to happen when you are lined up 30 yards off the LOS half of the time. Nonetheless, he didn't pick up his man in coverage a number of times  --  enough to be considered "disappointing" in my book.

Yes
Keep Prince. Ramsey, Prince and Colvin gives us the best tackling CB trio in the NFL I'd say.
Prince ain't going nowhere. We got plenty of money and he earned himself another contract.

Does that mean you want to try to re-sign Amukamara?  Or you're just fine moving forward with Ramsey and Colvin outside and Johnson in the slot?
I would resign him, yes. He's a solid #2.
Trumaine Johnson
Think we should just resign Prince. However, I don't love colvin playing nickel. If someone like adoree Jackson is available in the 2nd then I'd love that.

Could that be a product of him being so far away from his man that he's out of position to make a play from the get go?

It's possible that affected some plays  --  but the disappointing plays I'm referring to are when a receiver transitioned into Gipson's area of coverage and Gipson didn't break toward him soon enough to have a chance at disrupting the completion.
I would like to see Prince back as a starter, with Colvin in the slot.

We're all assuming that Amukamara will want to stay.

Well, not all of us.   I stated there's a chance he and his agent may want to run for the hills due to staff change/instability here and that nothing is guaranteed in free agency ($$$.)

You don't like Colvin?
I believe Prince is an average corner and I would offer him a fair contract. But I would not overpay for him. If another team offers him a big contract just let him walk
