Quote:I mean, it's just going to be like the Leftwich / Garrard days... when the Henne led offense is absolutely garbage, the fans and media will start demanding for Bortles. He'll be starting before the bye week.

I guess its good that the Jags only have 4 home games before the bye week because its either going to be a constant booing session or no one will be there
Quote:Possibly the dumbest thing ever said from a coach if true.

Bortles throwing left handed is still better than trash Henne.
Apparently Gus believes the same as Chip. Except Henne has more experience.
On the road in two very hostile stadiums is not where you toss your prized rookie in the deep end. Give Henne a few weeks to help the line get comfortable and then talk about a change when you're home or in a place like SD.
i hope bortles gets his first start in week 3 and shows luck how its done

Quote:No kidding?? Thats actually good on their part that they did prepare for both, even if their rhetoric regarding Bortles is a little off.

A LITTLE off?!!??!?

Saying Henne is similar to Bortles is like saying Roseanne Barr is similar to a Victoria's Secret model.
It was either ESPN or NFL (think ESPN) interviewing a Philly player the other day. When asked if/how he prepared differently for Bortles he appeared genuinely off guard, so much so he seemed to imply he didn't realize there was a difference between the two players. It was a confession that he had no clue about Bortles or even what Henne's playstyle was. Chocolate Chip may know a thing or two about offense, but their defense is suspect. Pretty sure their defensive strategy is to just dial up blitz after blitz. This will work against Henne, but Bortles would torch them
Unfortunately, If our offensive line doesn't mature quickly, Bortles could be playing by the 2nd quarter.   Henne will only hold up to so much pounding.

"In a world where tough decisions needed to be made.. On a team where offseason statements were spoken with conviction.. In a time where true hope was finally on the horizon... In a city where Santa Claus gets pelted with snowballs.. One man is forced to ask himself if he has the stones to go with his gut feeling.. A Tony Khan production of a JP Shadrick film.. Starring Gus Bradley as "the coach".. Dave Caldwell as "the brain".. Chad Henne as "not THAT guy again".. ROAR cheerleader Whitney Cowart as "whatever she wants to be".. And introducing Blake Bortles as "the savior".. Tough times call for tough decisions.. The race to maturity has been won.."

"BORTLES!" (This film has not yet been rated)

well....to be fair the 2 QB are similar....except for

* Henne can't complete passes more than 15 yards

* Bortles appears to be more accurate

* Bortles can scramble a little bit, wheras Henne is a statue

* Bortles seems to improvise better

* Bortles seems much more poised in the pocket wheras Henne seems like he's holding a live granade once snapped the football...

* The offense appears to have much more energy and life with Bortles as opposed to Henne

but other than that...

The greats don't shut down behind less than stellar OL's. They game plan for it.

More experience being bad.  Gabbert had that too, we should have just kept him.
