Quote:Alex Smith is the same QB that Matt Schaub, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Chad Henne, EJ Manuel, and every other QB that needs the pieces around to be elite in order to perform at a consistently competent level. If you take those elite pieces away those guys are exposed (like Schaub last year) for what they truly are, crappy replaceable QB's. Go back and watch the Titans game from last week, they took Jamaal Charles out of game and Smith crapped his pants, 19-35 202 yds and 3 picks, he sucks.

So you're disagreeing and you think QBs either suck or are All Pros?
Quote:Henne cannot improvise. The dude runs for ~ 8 yards per game. He sits in the pocket and if the WRs don't get open, forget it. He doesn't run and really doesn't really buy any time. He's a decent backup QB.
Solid criticisms, add to this the batted-balls..et al. So I might downgrade my opinion to middle echelon 2.

On the other hand, he can make some strong mid-length passes, is able to assume the leadership role efficiently, protects the football, in addition to the already discussed individual qualities of work ethic, etc.

I see plenty of reasons to keep him around at 2. He is doing what they are asking him to.
My problem really isn't so much about Henne being the starter as it is why is he the starter? Short term he doesn't other any significant upgrade over Bortles. Those saying he does are just towing the company line and think somehow fans are completely oblivious to anything football related. And as far as the long term outlook for the Jaguars, where does Henne fit in? It's Blake's team next year, and everyone knows it. That is why having Henne be the starter just makes zero sense.

Just the fact that when CH is your starting QB, you feel like your team is at a disadvantage right off the kick.

All you have to do is make him beat you with the pass and he just can't do it, no matter how hot a start he might get off to. They just know that he won't ever be able to maintain the hot start and will eventually go back to the CH we have seen for the past several years. All they have to do is wait out the hot start and ice cold Henne will eventually show up and seal the win for the opponent.
Quote:Corn.

Maybe blank #2 plays into it, but his biggest problem is corn.
