I know I try to examine players at all positions, but give particular emphasis to positions of need for the Jaguars.
This college season, I will examine Centers, guards, maybe RT, DE, and CB (even though we will get Colvin next year). I may also emphasize TE.
I know tonight I will watch Michigan St. (for DE Shilique Calhoun) v. Oregon (for C Hroniss Grasu)
What players/positions will you guys focus on this college season?
Do any of you have recs?

Tonight will be great watching grasu and Calhoun.
Funchess for Michigan vs Notre dame is a guy I'll watch pretty closely too.
But grasu is probably the marquee guy.
Speaking of marqise... USC is really missing him. Their receivers are really not what you're used to seeing there.

I am recording Mich St. Oregon. May watch Mich Notre Dame.
Funchess could be dominant.
I would watch for Notre Dame's Ben Koyack, Donnie Stanley, and Conor Hanratty.

You know, honestly, might wanna keep an eye on mariota. He could wind up being the number 1 pick and the Texans could make moves to get him.
I'm not a huge fan of luck but that would still be ridiculous having bortles, luck, mariota, locker/mettenberger in the same division.

I haven't been overly impressed with Mariota.
As a physical specimen...yeah...but I haven't been thrilled with his passing.
Perhaps him staying the extra year will help him.
As for Grasu, I really hope he is legit and that we get him.
I was crazy about Max Unger when he was draft eligible. Hopefully Oregon can produce another good C and we can get him.
Oregon is pretty dang talented.

Yep.
Armstead is a stud.
And that corner might be the best in the nation.

Was that the one with the diving INT off the tipped ball deep in Oregon territory in the 4th?

I'd say he'd be in consideration for that honor no doubt.

Ifo Ekpre-Olomu...how does that work with your name thing? :teehee:
I am primarily concerned with us getting a FS, TE, and C. The big names for those positions right now are Landon Collins, Alabama (being compared to Vaccarro and ThomasIII as a prospect), Devin Funchess (should he stay a TE), and Grasu (hes very athletic and would work especially well in our system).
Then of course, you can always use talent... If we're sitting at, say, 12, and Gurley is there with no medical flags (especially if Collins/Grasu are gone) it would be very tough to not take him. Very very tough. Same thing with Ifo, the CB from Oregon or Erving, that OT from FSU.

Yes, his name is fine.

I thought ifo was a possibility last year at 39 before he decided to stay in school. No shot he makes it to round 2 at this point.
Depending on corner availability he looks like a top ten pick.
That was a huge come back win for Oregon and definitely elevated a lot of stocks.
I am terrible at scouting players. I tried to watch the Senior Bowl and kept thinking, "Who do I root for?" instead of, "That guy looks good."
But throughout the season it is painfully obvious which positions we need to upgrade:
OFFENSE
Left guard
Right tackle
Tight end
Fullback
DEFENSE
Strong safety
Free safety
We can't give up on Bowanko and Linder after only one season. They are rookies. And Joeckel will be fine; he just played his first full game on the left side. Another type of offensive lineman I would like to see is someone who can play both center and guard at a high level, like Mike Pouncey.
Tight end is obvious. Marcedes Lewis had one great season and has been mediocre the rest of his career. We currently have no better alternatives on the roster.
The guy whose name I can't pronounce obviously is not as good as Greg Jones. One of our biggest weaknesses now is run blocking, so we need a better fullback.
I am happy with the cornerbacks. They have been playing well. But there is no doubt Jonathan Cyprien needs a better backup and the weakest defensive position is free safety. Now we may just need time to improve there, but that does not take care of the backup job.
Yes, the Jags need to draft a SS high. :yucky:
I think a bit of a hidden neeed is middle linebacker. Poz has been great but he turns 30 soon, is not an ideal fit for this defense and has a pretty hefty salary. And there is nobody behind him.
Having said that, one guy to keep an eye on is Eric Kendricks from UCLA. Mychael Kendrick's brother, he had an INT TD against Virginia. Projected right now as a 2-3 round pick.
Leonard Floyd from UGA too

I'll admit I want this guy bad.

I think the real problem there is Posluszny's backup. He was replaced by Dekoda Watson, who usually plays on the outside, if I heard the announcer correctly.
