Quote:lol Really?
Ok Genius, Then if they were going to wear thier white unis anyway, why is this a story?? SMH

I'm guessing incompetence by the journalist?
I live up here. I see it. Over the last 20-25 years the Eagles very rarely wear green in early Sept home openers. They usually wear their white jersey and force the opponent to wear darks.
Quote:Um, no one is saying the Eagles don't wear green at home as their base. They, just like many other teams that play in a warm climate will often wear white at home for their FIRST home game, especially if it falls in the first half of September.
Then they'll wear their dark jerseys at home for the rest of the season.
So, yeah, I'm sure about that.
Well you should know since you're a huge fan of theirs.

Not sure what that means but I was just messin' with you. Nobody could spend this much time on the Jaguar message board and NOT be a fan. To think otherwise would be just a little weird.

Freddy T, or Lawrence? Which Taylor?
81 degrees. The Jags might as well save the cost of flying up there and just phone it in. There's no way they could possibly deal with the tremendous heat that will no doubt be cast upon them because they're wearing these black wool jerseys that don't breathe and itch pretty badly. If only someone would invent some kind of technology that would allow fabrics to draw heat away from the person wearing them regardless of color. That's way too science fiction like to ever become a reality.
For what it's worth. Philly opened up in green tops in 2010 and wore green week 3 in 2012.

Yeah, the diva has already dismissed that by labeling it rarely despite the fact that in recent years they've tended to trend toward wearing their dark uniforms at home early in the season. Since he's the Eagles fan who knows all, this is clearly incorrect. They've been wearing white in their home opener for at least 50 years or so, and they do it because it gives them a huge advantage in the tropical heat of Philadelphia.

81 degrees.
Too bad we don't have an indoor practice facility so our players could get acclimated to the A/C.
What's the record for most players to die from heat stroke in a single day? I bet we'll beat it this weekend...
Smh.....
Whats funny is not once did I say because we are wearing the darks that we can't handle it.
The point is that home teams still are utilizing the advantage of forcing the opponent to wear their darks in early season games. This is a fact.
You can make all the jive responses like the above all you want.

Heat strokes?
Our guys better bring their hand warmers and some thick jackets. Bunch of crap playing September games in sub-100 degree weather...
Goodell and his damn NFL conspiracy against us at it again.

There is no advantage when a Florida team is playing up north and the weather is mild by making them wear dark uniforms.
Under those circumstances, not being surrounded by the glare of your teammates uniforms would probably be more of an advantage on a sunny day.

Oh come on TMD, it's all in good fun!
Just because teams try to do it to get an advantage doesn't make it truth.

Really, you just need to let it go. There really is no "advantage" regarding the color of jersey/uniform that a team wears. IF there is some kind of "advantage" regarding uniform color due to heat/sunlight/temp it's probably more mental than physical. I don't know where you get the "fact" from regarding teams selecting uniform colors, but I would guess that it has little to do with having some kind of "advantage".
One thing to point out that is somewhat related... I remember a game ironically against the Eagles when Donovan McNabb puked during the 4th quarter of the game while under center. It was a hot September game, but I would guess that he overheated not so much because of uniform color, but more likely because he didn't properly hydrate himself along with how the game was played.
One other note... I seem to recall certain Jaguars players in the past either suffering cramps (due to heat and dehydration) or having to get an IV in the locker room during halftime. IIRC Maurice Jones Drew was one of them.
Even if wearing the light jerseys only gives you a slight mental advantage, it would be stupid not to utilize it. Even if it doesn't provide an advantage, it doesn't hurt to try it anyways. Football is a game of inches and every opportunity for even the slightest edge should be utilized IMO.

I get where you are coming from, but yet the logical side comes out in me.
These players are "professionals" and as such, they are expected to be fully prepared. Being prepared means not only hydrating the body, but also having your head in the game. If it get's into your head that the dark color uniform put's you at a disadvantage, then you aren't a PROFESSIONAL.
My guess is that the color of uniform is not decided by a coaching staff, rather it's probably decided from a "uniform staff". If the color of uniform is a "coaching decision", then the team must really suck or be really desperate.
