Quote:Report: Josh Gordon to work as car salesman

Josh Gordon | CLE

(September 4, 2014 11:08 AM EDT)

According to ESPN's Josina Anderson, suspended WR Josh Gordon will begin work this weekend for Sarchione Auto group in Randolph, Ohio.

Per Anderson, Gordon will work in all aspects of the car business including as an on-floor salesman. He'll also be a "goodwill ambassador," heading all of Sarchione's local community efforts such as the Wounded Warriors Project. Gordon will not be paid his $825,604 Browns salary during his suspension, and an effort to sign in the CFL was also shot down.

Lol.

Hopefully he's smart enough not to get baked in the back of that shiny 2015 floor model.
I haven't followed the story. Why can't he play in the CFL?

I think it's because he's still under contract with the NFL. When Ricky Williams did it, he was retired

Because his contract with the NFL forbids him to do so. Its the same deal when Pacman tried to join the WWE while serving his suspension.

Makes sense I guess. Probably Roger strong arming the CFL.
TRADE OUR FIRST ROUND PICK FOR HIM NOW WHILE HIS STOCK IS LOW

(just kidding)

Smoke Out Sell-a-thon! Buy ANY new or used vehicle and NFL wide receiver Josh Gordon will Smoke You Out! The dankest deal you will find this side of the Mississippi.
Can I interest you in this 2015 Hyundai Genesis?  The in cabin air filtration system is fabulous for keeping that sweet stinky smell from lingering.  You never know when that might come in handy.

If anything, i'll give the guy credit for getting a job doing SOMETHING, vice sitting at home all season.

Pretty sure the CFL and NFL have agreements not to let suspended players for one league play in the other.

Nah. It was the Browns. Gordon's still under contract to them, so they blocked him from going to the CFL and risking injury there.

Correct. The CFL has a policy of honoring NFL suspensions.

How is Da'Rick Rogers playing up there while suspended from the NFL?
Probably do well selling the " green" cars

I'm assuming you meant Brazil?

I'm assuming that's correct.

To answer that question, Lavon Brazil was cut by the Colts, so he's not bound by that agreement between the NFL and CFL.
Brazill, yes. My bad. He's suspended by the NFL but playing in Canada.

*Edit: Never mind. Just found an article explaining it. The suspension doesn't block Gordon from playing there, hence how Brazill is able to play in the CFL despite being exiled from the NFL. The distinction is that the Browns are squatting on Gordon's rights, whereas the Colts just cut Brazill. CFL rules prohibit any players under contract with a team in another professional league from playing in the CFL. Free agents, regardless of suspension status, are eligible to play in Canada. It's called the "Ricky Williams Rule".

He's not on an NFL roster.

Because he was released from the Colts following his suspension.
Gonna have to sell a lot of Fords and Chevys to make up that salary.

Should have sold something more high end for a bigger commission.

I suppose beggars can't be choosers, and you've got to be a talented salesperson to sell to a more sophisticated consumer.
