It also wasn't the full starting OL.  Joeckel and Beadles (I know, you say he stinks, but he's still a starter) both didn't see the field.   As well as Lewis, Gerhart and Ta-ufo'ou.  

To take things a step further, I would not trade our coach for any coach in the league, our owner for any other owner in the league, and would not trade our past two draft classes in total for any other team's past two drafts. We have something really awesome happening in lil' ol' Duuuuuuvalllll.


Also, your star QB needs to have the 'look' - and to me Andrew Luck looks like he could be a character from the bar scene in Star Wars.

I'd consider Luck, just because he's done some stuff in the NFL already.  And he's young enough to get plenty of use out of him.  But he's about the only one I'd consider.

Rodgers is going to be 31 years old.  That's an 8 year difference in age.  Rodgers is much better than Luck, and easily a Top 4 QB (maybe even arguments to be made for Top 3 if Tom Brady declines).The age difference would be too much imo.  That's 8 years you could be looking for your next QB.

Wow, I actually didn't realize he's that old already. I had thought he was like 27.

I got the point. I also saw some suggesting there were players they'd consider trading him for. The more I see a Bortles play, the more convinced I am any name thrown out there as a possible trade option would be in the same category as Bortles, only older and closer to the end of their careers. We've got our guy. Let's move forward.

I'd take Rodgers. That's about it at this very moment.

31 year old Rodgers at his peak, or a 22 year old Bortles with an equally high ceiling. I'm rolling the dice with a Bortles.

Well, agreed on that part. 

 

I'm still not comfortable yet with this new found success at QB. It seems unnatural having suffered through so many bad ones since 1995. I mean, I think its great, I just don't want anything to mess it up. 

 

I keep waiting for the shoe to drop. 

 

We just have to keep him healthy!!!!

 

I don't care if Dave has to spend all 7 picks on the OL next year, given this kid's talent, we must invest heavily in protecting him. If what we have isn't good enough, out with the old, in with the new. 

 

IIRC Beadles contract was constructed in a way that he can be cut after one year with limited cap implications. He needs to show a lot more than he has those first 3 games.

I've seen Bortles grow more in the offseason than Luck has his career.  Luck isn't much different than who he was in college.

im not hating on Luck, but i think he was pretty maxed out coming out. that's why he was the deemed the "best QB prospect in the last xxxx years" by all the talking heads...it's because he was already maxed out. really no room for growth with him.

 

i dont think he gets much better.

 

Bortles has a MUCH higher ceiling.
