Quote:Pretty good grades for every rookie QB out there.
I think this is going to turn out to be a very good draft for QBs when all is said and done.  It might not produce a string of Hall of Fame guys, but it should net several productive QBs in the league for several years.
Quote:Bortles has earned the recognition.  When the dust settles on this thing, it looks like we got our guy.
I sure hope we got him.

I sure hope we get him the best surrounding cast.
Quote:Rams fans are just very upset that they have to watch Shaun Hill all year. I am sure they know a torn ACL in preseason can't be predicted during the draft.

Then again, with so many idiots rooting for NFL teams these days with beers in their hands, maybe some fans have no clue what "lying season" means.
Sooooooo... I'm not allowed to drink beers while I watch football???

Just for kicks:

@PFF: #Jaguars rookie QB Blake Bortles leads the league in PFF QB Rating and Accuracy Percentage this preseason

You may be right.  I still think Bridgewater and Bortles will be the two best when it's all said and done but looks like there may be some other decent starters.
Looks like Caldwell nailed it when he said they all need a little seasoning, to sit a while.

They'll all be holding clipboards to start the season.

I agree that they would probably be the two best of this draft class, but it's a group that goes fairly deep, which is something we haven't seen from a draft in a long while.  The pickings have been slim.

The draft where we whiffed on Gabbert is pretty similar in terms of quality (maybe not elite) depth.
I am so glad we took Bortles over Manziel. At this point who could dispute the choice?

Agreed.  It's a completely different vibe.  We've got a kid who is working his tail off to live up to the expectation of his draft selection.  He's approaching this process like a professional.  Then there's Manziel.  We got the better end of that situation.

I think this draft will prove to be much more successful from top to bottom for QBs.
I think Grappo could take over for Brady and do well. Lots of talent in this draft.
Love seeing us with good reports and such. I cant wait for him to do it in the reg season too!

Yes.

But I want to emphasize that just because they aren't "immediate starters" doesn't mean they are not worthy of their draft position.

As I recall, some argued that if a player wasn't ready to come in and start immediately, they shouldn't be drafted, especially in the top ten.  A version of this argument was that there were no Andrew Luck caliber QBs in this draft.

I don't think anyone on this board is dissatisfied with the Bortles pick at this stage.

You can throw the hope out the window, he is a lock down winner!
Quote:He has looked like one of the best of this years' rookie QB's. Hopefully when he actually plays in regular season he keeps it up. Manziel is a [BAD WORD REMOVED] and I'm glad we passed on him so far according to what he's done.

During his rookie yr, Cam Newton looked good during pre-season and ended up performing pretty well during the regular season. Back then the Panthers made him the starter even before pre-season iirc.

I hope Bortles has the same fortune.
Quote:Wow this guy has looked good every time he is behind center.

He has suprised many people, and most people have a hard time critizing his performance in PreSeason which is outstanding news for a young rookie.  He has all year to learn whether from the bench or hopefully on the field and should be a great QB in his 2nd year maybe elite status as he takes the team to the post season in year 3 (if not 2)!
If you watch the video clips and compare, Bortles at many times had two, even three guys about to sack him when he releases the ball (like threading a needle) perfect accuracy, vision, speed / power, man its really exciting to watch us have a great QB in the making...

GO JAGS!
