Quote:Tandon Doss

lol......you're hoping, I know...
With the emergence of Hurns who is clearly making the 53-man roster, it wouldn't surprise me to see Tandon Doss released. For his sake, he had better capitalize on his punt return opportunities against the Falcons. Looking at the WR teams typically keep five or six. For the time being Ace and Justin Blackmon are suspended and won't count on the roster until re-instated. But still you have... 1. Shorts 2. Marquis 3. Robinson and 4. Hurns. This leaves one or two spots to fill with Doss, Mike Brown and Kerry Taylor in the mix. I'm thinking Chad Bumphis makes the Practice Squad and that Denard Robinson makes the roster as a RB.

Quote:The only two guys I could see getting cut that would be a surprise are Lewis or Poz. If we had any kind of reasonable backup I think they'd cut Poz in an instant, but his backup is a MLB that runs a 4.8 so Poz is safe.

Why in the world would they possibly cut Poz? He's one of the few best MLBs in the AFC.

Quote:I would be surprised if Roy Miller was cut.   One of the best Defensive plays the Jaguars made in  their road pre-season game against the Lions was the 4th and short play inside the Lions 5 yard line in which Miller got penetration against Lions starting LG Rob Sims and stopped RB Joique Bell before he could pick up the first down.   That rarely happens to Bell in short yardage situations.

With the talent on the Jags DL though I could see Roy Miller or even Alualu being cut. Besides, they may have to do something like this in order to keep a young favorite like Abry Jones or Ryan Davis.

Quote:I guess the 4th down goal-line stand wasn't a flash?

0 technique big body space eating planets aka nose tackles don't often get much credit. Miller has hustle and more importantly the size for his role in the defense. He should be safe.
Before the preseason began I mentioned that Denard Robinson might be a surprise cut, but with Gerhart being primarily a between-the-tackles bruiser they're sure to covet Denard's ability to get to the edge with his speed. For that reason I now feel Denard is safe. Storm is probably safe as well since he's a draft pick so Todman's spot might actually be jeopardy.

Do you mean past or future cuts?

Any draft pick would be a surprise cut because I know David Caldwell makes sure he knows everything about a player before selecting him. That includes seventh rounder Storm Johnson.

Roy Miller - 6-2, 310 ... Abry Jones - 6-4, 312

Quote:Brewster, although it isn't that surprising after the preseason.

Don't forget he broke his ankle during the Bills game and Luke Joeckel, who suffered the same injury earlier, is still rusty. I think Caldwell is going to be patient with him.
Quote:Based on the way our WRs go down/ get suspended maybe keeping 6 is a good idea. Not to mention Robinson has not practiced played a down yet so to count on him until week 8 is a reach.

We keep 6 on the roster with one floating on IR/ suspended.

How can a player be both on IR and suspended at the same time? A suspended player does not need to be on IR because he can't play anyway.
There is zero chance of Roy Miller being cut.
Quote:Loston >>>>>>> Prosinski

What has Loston done?

What are you even talking about?
just five of former general manager Gene Smith’s 26 draft picks still remain on the roster after this most recent purge. Jacksonville still needs to make four more cuts before Tuesday’s deadline.

WoW, to think of how many of us thought Gene was taking this team in the right direction after his first year as GM.

Did he ever get a job in the NFL since leaving here>?

I think he's referring to cuts in 2016.

It's all about him.

Wiki has him down as unemployed.

Speaking of draft picks.

Scobee and Lewis are the only old school guys left right? Like from the Shack days?
The saints cut LB Victor Butler, any interest?  11 sacks, 5 forced fumbles, 4 Pds in his 4 year career...

I think the team is at 76 right now and needs to be at 75 by 4pm today.  Who is the last guy to get cut?

Todman please.  He hasn't done anything to warrant being ahead of Denard and Storm.  And they shouldn't keep him instead of 6 WR's if that's what it comes down to.  Keep the 6 WR's and drop Todman.
