Quote:Tiger has the short game and putting stroke, he just needs to figure out how to hit a driver straight and long without swinging from his toes and wrenching his back.

I don't get the hate for him. He's not Mr. Warmth, but I don't want to be his friend.
I don't know.  That putter isn't looking so great in the past few tournaments.
Quote:Tigers body is beat up.  The torque he put on his body with all those swings is bound to build up over time.

I would love for him to prove me wrong...he made golf watchable for me.

I think injuries are going to shorten the careers of a lot of today's golfers.   Back in the old days, they didn't used to work out and build so much muscle mass.   A body can put on muscle mass, but as far as I know, you cannot improve the discs in your spine.   Today's younger golfers have added a lot of muscle, and as a result they swing so hard, it's difficult to imagine their spines holding up to that kind of stress over a long period of time.   But they have to do it.   It's an arms race out there.   If they can't drive the ball 340 yards, they are at a big disadvantage.   So they build up their muscles to win today, and by the time they are 40, I believe a lot of them will start breaking down physically.
For starters, listening to TMD bag on Tiger is just comical.... like he actually knows him.

The Sean Foley swing works for guys like Hunter Mahan and Justin Rose. I like to call it the "robotic swing". The Foley swing took a lot of Tiger's athleticism away from the swing and looks more harmful to his back than his swing under Haney and Harmon. Watching Tiger aim to the left and try to play that cut on every shot is painful to watch, and the 2 way miss is even more painful to watch. Tiger Woods was not meant to swing like a robot.

Tiger just needs to clear his head and swing the way he knows how to swing. He has been doubted time and time again and always comes back.

Interesting take....probably a lot of truth to it.

Agreed on all counts.

To the PGA, a healthy, productive Tiger Woods is a good thing.  Yes, there are young stars on the rise, but if you want ratings, and you want people paying attention to the PGA, he needs to get his mojo back and start playing with the same focus and determination that made him one of the greats.

I do agree with the suggestion that all the over-conditioning these guys are doing is having an impact on their ability to sustain for as long as the old timers have been able to.  Some of these guys look like they're as ripped as professional body builders, and with the violent nature of the golf swing, it's no wonder they're dealing with back and joint issues.

I think Woods can get back to being a dominant player in the PGA.  He needs to focus on the things that helped to get him to the top of the heap: cocktail waitresses, strippers, blondes, brunettes, and more blondes.  Lindsey won't mind.
Yep. All this technology in golf is good for us duffers but is a double-edged sword for the pros. More forgiveness and easier 'hitability' has created a trend to hit the ball harder and longer while sacrificing the pure method-and-style swing techniques used by greats like Ben Hogan and Sam Snead.

I think his putting woes are due to his bad back, and frustration in general. If he can get back to driving long and in the fairway, the rest of his game will follow suit.

I disagree on this one. Foley's swing mechanics have crept into every aspect of Tiger's game including putting and chipping. Tiger was never a straight driver, even under Harmon. The different was, he had a one way miss and knew how to play with it. He is dealing with a 2 way miss now and that isn't typically a good thing for someone who makes a living playing golf.

I think once Tiger gets away from his robotic swing and just starts playing golf again, all will be right in the golf world sooner rather than later. I do think Tiger could stand to lose a little of his bulk though.

I long to see him swing like this again...
