Quote:I have heard that Freddy T is a huge fan of Grants mentioned it post game this week hopefully Freddy can work with him in the off season breaking down tape and tendencies of defensive fronts and whatever else Fred can teach him
Yea to learn from one of the best ever.  Would be amazing for Grant.
Quote:Ivory should go in-between tackles, and Grant should run to the outside.

Let Ivory wear them down and Grant burn them for the big play. I'd rather draft another RB, but we weren't really using Grant. We were running Ivory or Yeldon outside; they're entirely too slow to take advantage of it.

But you can't tip your hand about what play you're running by what back is in the game.   You have to be willing to call the same plays no matter who is in the game.   Otherwise, the defense knows what play you're going to call.   "Oh, it's Grant, they're going to run outside."
Quote:I would rather keep him over Denard Robinson.

Absolutely.   I think Denard is done.

I get that but they can also hide it with play-action and screens. I'm also not talking about 100% exclusive roles, just generalities.
Quote:Corey Grant's performance yesterday was very impressive. How much of this was due to the Colt's poor defense and the game being pretty much meaningless to them? Going forward, did this performance possibly change what the Jaguars should do in the draft? Even prior to his breakout game, I could not see the Jaguars taking a running back until the mid-rounds due to their needs at offensive line, pass rush, and competition for Bortles. When Ivory wasn't fumbling and not injured, he looked good. Yeldon may never be elite, but he is a decent complementary back to Ivory, especially once the offensive line improves next year. I don't see Caldwell or the new coach getting rid of these 2 guys or Grant, so I say they need to wait til round 5 or 6 and hopefully find a guy with potential who they can develop. This is probably the easiest position to have success in the mid to late rounds. This year alone, guys like Howard, Dixon, Kelley, etc showed great promise. So, as great as Cook looked against Michigan or Fournette looked much of this season, I say pass on these guys when the draft comes around.

It was against the Colts
The love for Grant on this board shows the importance of getting a feature back this off-season. The running game needs a complete overhaul.

Zach Line should be one of our top targets in Free Agency. Then I'm trading down and drafting Cook and maybe even getting McCaffrey in the 2nd. You can keep Grant but he's not a feature guy. You're boosting the running game and McCaffrey can do what Denard Can't. You can feel better about giving Bortles his 5th year. You might win some games relying on a strong running attack. I'm moving on from Yeldon and Robison and Grant is still your change of pace/depth, It's a very specific plan but it boosts your run game significantly in 1 off-season and can win you games now depending on what they want to do at QB.

Your 2017 backfield:

RB Cook

RB Ivory

RB/WR/KR McCaffrey "offensive weapon"

RB Grant

FB Line

Drop Yeldon as fast as possible, pick up a FB, and choose someone in the first 2 rounds to be our featured back. I know who I want but there is plenty of talented backs in the draft to come away with better than Yeldon.
Why all this hate for Yeldon? He's done just fine with the reps he's been given. The problem with the running game is not the RBs.

Let DRob go and draft a guy in mid-rounds. Next year you have Ivory as the bell cow, Yeldon as the change of pace, Grant as the 3rd down scat back and a draft pick to develop. We might bring on a few more to see if someone sticks as a 5th RB or FB.
