Quote:We all know the Ice Cream Zone didn't work. Why are we questioning the guys who closest to it when they say so?

Ice Cream zone lol
"complete change, complete flip"

Get rid of them all including Wash and Marrone.
Im lost, how else are you supposed to use a Free Saftey?

And really?Gus told Ramsey "I don't want to put you in a position to be a playmaker?", this I find hard to believe.

Sounds like the guys just don't want to be accountable. Which has been a big issue for this team.

[This is not a Gus apologist post I assure you, Gus did not use the whole D right IMO, but the reasons that the players are giving are kinda odd]
Fowler posted something on twitter about feeling like he was a caged animal the other day. Gotta think that's not a coincidence.
I hope we have two new starters at safety next year.

Gipson is tr@sh
I don't think you guys are putting all the pieces together. There are several factors involved in the state we find this team in.

-Players being used against their natural abilities.

-Schemes brought from another team and forced on established players and when it was obvious it didn't fit they forced it harder. The coaching, or lack thereof. Period.

-Lack of leadership starting at the very top. I like what Khan has done for the city and the organization as a whole, but he is ultimately responsible for every single decision made that has to do with top leadership in the organization, be it the coaches, front office people, etc. He may have been fed bad information but the man didn't get to where he is by being an idiot. Unless he was more concerned with building pools and lounge areas in which case he deserves the product he's seen on the field.

-Lack of concern for what I'll call situational awareness. Someone knew something about how it was all going to [BLEEP] but no one would say anything? No one? Bueller? There is something desperately wrong with an organization where things can be this bad for this long and no one steps up. We've seen coaches and GM's fired for much less than what this team has endured so what the hell? Why was no one talking? Why was no one shaking things up to find out what was broken so it could be fixed?

-Players not showing up for games mentally. This has been said by at least one player now and I'm sure others would agree they are guilty. I don't believe it's solely a matter of rich guys wanting a 'vacation' in Jacksonville. When a culture of defeat is cultivated and nurtured by the coach, the head coach specifically, it affects everything and everyone. And defeat is exactly the thing being preached. Never did Gus have anything to say about winning, it was always about getting better. They are not the same thing. And his lack of discipline with and for the players didn't help. The thing that bothers me the most is the veterans didn't do anything. I'm talking about Poz and Marks specifically. They've been in the game long enough. Or maybe they tried but Khan was hellbent on staying with Gus until the end of his contract.

Either way it has all hurt this team, the fans and the city. There are many people at fault here and they should all be ashamed of themselves.

It seems that throughout his reign here Gus has told his defense to stay disciplined and stick to their job instead of trying to break on passes and jump routes in order to get picks. This probably irks Gibson because his bread and butter is playing deep and breaking on routes. According to Ramsey he was told to stick to his role too instead of playmaking.
Quote:T Gipson sucked, I'm sure he's going to blame it on the system.

A player who actually played well regardless of system speaks volumes when he speaks out against a system.

Yeah.... starting FS on a Top 5 D sucks.

Right.

Gip wasn't great, but what we're asking him to do is setting him up to look bad. He stays 15 yards off the line of scrimmage and like he said, is basically just a security blanket to now allow a TD if something is caught. He wasn't ideal this year but you don't have a pass defense ranked like ours if our FS sucks...you just don't. I'm looking forward to a new defense that does fit his abilities more because he was known as a ballhawk in Cleveland and was constantly in position to take the ball away. He really wasn't here.

He was asked to cover deep for 16 weeks. For the most part he did his job. I can count on one hand how many 30+ yard bombs we gave up this year. He did what was asked. Maybe the next HC will have him more in a patrol type roll where he'll have more opportunities to get his hands on the ball.

I think Cyp has improved this year and is at least NFL starter caliber (if not developing into a solid player).  We have a lot greater needs elsewhere.

It's hard to judge Gip when he was basically invisible all year.
I don't really know what Gipson does well. I don't see him making plays on the ball and the few times he's in man zone he gets beat. He's also not a willing tackler.

I understand their frustration tho. I hate that deep cover 3 they run. If you don't have a pass rush it just doesn't work
Quote:You just refuse to admit there is talent on this team.

They were misused all season.

Nah I just think it's classless and an easy out for what is either lazy unmotivated players or bad players.

If you suck because your boss let's you get away with it then your a [BLEEP] employee to start with.

That's his complaint as well, that he wasn't allowed to, and was not put on position to.

I agree. The players are looking out for themselves, as they should. But it looks like they too jumped on the Fire Gus bandwagon to justify their poor play.

Pretty soon you'll also hear Bortles blaming Gus for his Donald Duck throws

First 14 games: ok, "lefty tighty, righty loosy", thats how we do it here. Its our philosophy and you have a big opportoonie. Now just get a little better at bolt tightening today and we'll have that engine built in no time.

Sundaes: I just don't know why we can't get the parts to stay together, but we'll go back to the schematics this week and be sure everyone is using the "righty loosy" philosophy, because I dont know what else to do. But good effort, here's your banana splits.
Apologies if posted already...but here is more from Jalen Ramsey.

Quote:

"Every week, we ran the same defense," said Ramsey, who finished his rookie season with 55 tackles, 14 pass breakups and two interceptions. "We never changed defenses. We never changed plays. What we were running on first down at the beginning of the season we were running on first down at the end of the season. What we were running on second down, third down, same. Nothing ever changed."

Malik Jackson had a different perspective...

Quote:

"When you come to a team, you have to adapt to what the team needs," Jackson said. "To be complaining about, ‘Oh, the scheme’ and all this, it is what it is. I’m a D-tackle, so I need to do D-tackle s---, so that’s all it comes down to. Some of us might not be happy with the situation, but we need to make the best of it. We don’t care about crying about what you don’t like."

A rookie and a veteran are definitely going to see things from a different POV. It doesn't mean both weren't right to a degree.
Anybody who thinks the players were playing lazy and unmotivated haven't been watching the team this season.

Absolutely right.
