Exactly

My guess is our first team is going to look a lot more like a first team with the back up QB not playing as the starter.

Huh?

He is indicating that Henne is a career backup, which he is, and the 1st team will look better with the guy who SHOULD be starting.

Was that the correct translation, NOIS?
Boy if Shorts and Robinson are back that could be a lot of fun to watch.
Maybe he can help turn some of those field goals the No. 1's are racking up into TD's. he moved the ball well last night when he got in the game. I would love to see him get some work with the 1st teamers in the next Pre Season game.

Gerhart+Hurns+Bortles = 3 headed dragon

Yeop.
Man.. I read the title and got happy as hell lol... O well first team reps is cool to.

Yeah my guess is Henne gets all of the first half and Bortles gets the 3rd quarter.  I'm looking forward to see how he looks against Detroit's first team defense.

What I’m interested in seeing is if the balls thrown in tight coverage (ie, end zone bootleg last night) get picked by opponent’s better atheletes.  It’s a lot easier when the defenders are guys that may not even be in the NFL next week.  That being said I fully expect Blake to shine in that situation next week.  Looking forward to it.

Cecil should be back, and maybe even Allen Robinson.. wonder if this had any bearing on this decision

I hope Detroit keeps their 1s in for the 3rd quarter if this is the case.
In a previous thread I suggested this would happen.

Blake plays well enough in game 2 to merit time with the 1's in game 3 (usually reserved for the dress rehearsal for the starter)

If he plays well enough, and I mean on par or better than Henne, I think he starts Game 4 for a couple of drives and starts week 1.

If he stumbles, ever so slightly, the staff will have enough "ammo" to keep the "bringing him along" game going until Henne flat lines.

In my opinion, the staff knows what they have in Henne, he doesn't need the reps. Henne should get a quarter and a half, Blake a quarter and a half, by quarter 4 we should all know who is our starter.

Playing with our firsts is the biggest deal of all.

Since drafted, he has never played with the ones.

This will be his first opportunity to do so.  It marks the first move they've made to look at him as a starter, not merely the backup role they've relegated him to from the moment he was drafted.

Blake Bortles | JAC

(August 15, 2014 1:14 PM EDT)

Coach Gus Bradley revealed Friday the team plans to let Blake Bortles spend a full quarter with the first-team offense in Jacksonville's third preseason game next week.

The Jags may be reevaluating their stance on "redshirting" Bortles after back-to-back impressive preseason performances. He's only worked with the twos to this point; the Jaguars will now test Bortles with the ones. Chad Henne has performed just fine on his own, but should be feeling the heat. If the Jags see that Bortles is truly ready to start in the NFL, we think they will play him.

He had one snap with the ones.
BB5's progress is on rails right now. It'll be interesting to see just how well he plays in this situation. I personally want to see him start a game to guage his progress againt the opposing ones...

Time Will Tell...

It'll be the 3rd preseason game, so the ones for both teams will play the majority of the game.

I hope that CSIII and A-Rob will return for the next game. Both need the work...

One side note that relates to Blake Bortles getting an opportunity to play a QTR. with the Jaguars starters is this will probably be the first pre-season game that DE Ziggy Ansah plays for the Lions.  Ansah came off the PUP list earlier this week and won't be playing tonight in Oakland.   Luke Joeckel likely will be matched up against Ansah,  which will be the first time the 2013 top 5 picks faced each other in the NFL.   With Joeckel benefitting by going up against savvy talented veteran Jared Allen last night,   it will be interesting to see what transpires in pre-season game # 3.
