ESPN Breaking News....

Roger Goodell announces today that the league is widening the shield logo, to allow room for the new NFFL (National Flag Football League) moniker.

Quote:The whistle wasn't blown, he definitely looked like he was getting up, and Guy didn't spear him with his helmet. No way that should have been called. It was a clean hard hit. If you want to give yourself up then go into the fetal position. Rules say you must be touched while down, so refs either have to blow the whistle quickly or you can get hit hard. Guy had no way to touch him, he wasn't standing near him, so in case he got up, he had to make sure he knocked him back down.

I agree, that particular call along with a few others was especially bad.

This stat say's it all.... this year we're headed towards 406 illegal contact penalties..... ridiculous.

This is not going to be called as stringently during the regular season.

The player also expect that, and will go back to what they did last season once the regular season starts.
So what's the point? To penalize the fans who buy tickets to the preseason games?

21 penalties only counts the ones that were accepted. I wonder what percentage of the plays had flags thrown. I know it couldn't have been 100%, but it sure seemed like it.

One-hand touch next? Two-hand touch would be too violent.
I watched the Pats/Eagles game last night and it was even worse with the penalties. Every other play had some form of illegal contact or hands to the face. Flag fest 2014 is right around the corner.

I think it's pretty awesome that we have to pay full price to watch guys try out for the Jags AND refs practicing calls.  Super!

What sort of degenerate lets their kids grow up to be the absolute slime of the earth, they should trade those striped shirts for orange jump suits because what they were doing was criminal

I Second that. I don't want to pay full price to watch a fake game.
Quote:Yes, it's not like they haven't warned us. They obviously want the receivers to be able to get down the field (after the first five yards) unmolested, as well as the other points you mentioned. I have no problem with that.

I don't remember which team this favored, but a receiver ran directly into a defender and the defender picked up a flag for it. So far, it looks like the receivers gets first dibs on the ball, and the defender has to work around him. I don't see the fun in that.

Quote:I was thoroughly disgusted. That one zebra had a hell of an arm, though. Hmmmmm... I wonder how far he can throw a football.....
Yes, but I wonder how long before he nails someone in the face with one of those throws. I'm pretty sure the flags are softer now, but still...

In the GB-Rams game today they mentioned that the four games yesterday drew a combined 86 penalties.

These games so far have been ridiculous with the penalties.
