Hopefully it's a minor thing and he gets back on track.

He can play through that with a cast. As far as injuries go, that's a good thing.

Jaguars RT Austin Pasztor has been diagnosed with a broken hand.
He'll be in a race to get healthy for Week 1, though he wouldn't be the first lineman to play with a broken hand. Swing tackle Cameron Bradfield would be the next man up if Pasztor has to miss regular-season time.

Fractured fourth metatarsal.

Metacarpal makes more sense.
Yes - Metacarpal. The fourth is the bone behind your pinky finger. I've broken that bone. He could conceivably play with a cast that splints his pinky and ring fingers together, leaving two fingers and his thumb free. I imagine they'll hold him out until reg season at least. Longer if Bradfield doesn't stink it up. But he could play if they need him.
EDIT: Oops -- it's behind the ring finger, not pinky. I broke the fifth. The cast may need to include three fingers instead of two.
This is not his film but the same bone which he broke.

I was about to be REALLY impressed! :teehee:

Ever since Mike Peterson played with a cast in that playoff game, I cringe when I hear a player is going that route. Let it heal. Watt will break the hand the whole way.
Sounds like Pasztor is gonna sit for 4 weeks and then doctors will re-evaluate. Hope Bradfield steps up in the interim.

“We’ll battle through it,” Pasztor said Friday morning, a day after the Jaguars’ 20-19 preseason Week 2 loss to the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois. “It’s not too big of a deal.”
Pasztor, the Jaguars’ starting right tackle, sustained a fractured right hand – the fourth metatarsal – in the first quarter Friday. He said he wasn’t sure exactly how it happened, and that he played through the injury for several plays.
Pasztor is expected to undergo surgery Tuesday, and Jaguars Head Coach Gus Bradley said he will be reevaluated in about a month.
“I remember my hand hurting, but I don’t know when it actually started hurting,” Pasztor said. “It’s a little frustrating, but there’s nothing you can do about it. It’s the game we play. Injuries happen.”

You are correct. I regurgitated what they reported on 1010.
I'm comfortable with Bradfied. But that does thin depth when we've got to start him.

His quote was interesting. I broke a finger in an unusual way catching kickoffs/punts before practice. I thought it was just jammed and went through practice not thinking anything more of it... not until we got to pushups... then I knew something was wrong when I couldn't hold my weight on the hand.
Breaks are no fun. I also broke my tailbone cliff jumping into a lake and didn't realize it until the next day. Made for an excruciating three hour drive the next day.
Ditto ribs... didn't realize it was a break until the next morning.
The thing about breaks in my experience, they don't get
really sore until later. Then you know somethings really not right.

Alcohol is a great painkiller, until you sober up, of course!
Solution---keep drinking

Yeah. I've experienced it both ways. When I broke the 5th metacarpal - it was a clean break and it also tore the ligament off of my knuckle. I knew it immediately. When I fractured the 2nd metacarpal - I thought it was just a "jam." Two days later I tried to grip and lift something heavy and the pain was excruciating. Sounds like he did something similar to his fourth mc as I did to my second.
Here's hoping we can get all this stuff out of the way early and keep our starters healthy this season.
Mike DiRocco is on with Prosser this morning, and he's saying Pasztor could miss up to a month, so that backs up what Oehser indicated above.

Yeah I broke my wrist playing soccer in high school, I only did something about it when I still couldn't get anything out of my pocket several days later.
I will be happy if he just misses 6 games but reading some of the blogs, it looks like it may be longer than that.
