And to address "Hollyweird": Hutchence was Australian, died in Sydney. Carradine is Hollywood royalty, but died in Bangkok.
All you have to do is watch a few episodes of
Intervention to believe that. Even though they are all different people in different circumstances addicted to different drugs, they all seem to be severely depressed - in effect committing suicide by other means. Suicide is scary and has been frowned upon by society, so just kill yourself by heroin or whatever.

I read this yesterday, and it's amazing the details that are coming out. It just kept piling up on the guy. With the issues he was already dealing with, this could only have exacerbated the situation.
