First game is actually on Wednesday Aug 27th. Abilene Christian at Georgia St. Not exactly the primetime matchup but it's college ball. I'm sure I'll turn it on if nothing else.
But then on Thursday we've got Texas A&M at South Carolina and Boise St vs Ole Miss in Atlanta. My boys Vandy will also be playing that night. The home opener against Temple. We should roll.
The CHAMPS take center stage that Saturday night. Dallas to Dallas.
This season is going to be fun!
anyone making roadtrips to any games this year? I think I've got 3 games planned for Nashville. Cocktail party probably. Vandy/UGA in Athens. Probably another trip to Athens for either Clemson or Auburn. And going up to Clemson this year for the UNC game(we may choose Louisville depending on schedules). 50/50 we do the A&M at Bama in Tuscaloosa but that is far out in the future.
Made it to 10 college games last year (which includes two bowl games). Not sure I'll do that many this year but it'll be close! Every year I go somewhere new. Last year I checked two off the list... ironically both USC's. Carolina and Southern Cal. This year Clemson will be the new experience.
Cant wait!

My guess is that this isn't on TV. ESPN3 at best.
Best time of the year is almost here. The goosebumps are real!

I'm a little concerned about Vandy dropping down to the bottom of the SEC in the next few years (after the Franklin recruits graduate).

Well there ya go. Georgia State caught a break with the Ga Dome having a scheduling conflict.

Yea not sure anyone knows what to expect. The thing is Franklin didnt win with his recruits. He won with the previous coaches recruits. Vandy fans have always agreed that while we've needed more talent(what team doesnt), what we really needed was a coach who would get these guys to play with some passion and aggression. And thats what Franklin did. Get guys to fight when things go bad instead of roll over. Will be interesting to see if Mason can continue that.
As far as this year, I've got low expectations. For all the good Franklin did he lucked out in the sense that he arrived with Tennessee at its worst and Florida down. And he got Auburn the year before Malzahan arrived.

His recruiting classes, year in and out, were quite a bit better and more talented though. He was able to bring in more talented kids. I think Frankin is an awesome recruiter, and a very, very good coach.
Is it too early to start counting down hours?
