Todman said in a interview recently that he was going to try to start working the inside more heavily- didn't see that last night.  We have to be cognizant   of the predictability that is occurring in our running game.  If Gerhart's in, he's going to smash and crash up the middle, if Todman's in, he's going to work the outside. Defenses catch on to this.

I would have to put D-Rob as the top performer of the preseason game, and I feel, in general, he has a better shot of being able to work the outside as well as fight through the middle, if necessary.

For the record, I still want Gerhart as the starter, but I would like to see D-Rob in that #2 spot.

If we could get some push with our interior line (center) our running game would be that much better. We're going to have to fight for every yard this year.
Quote:You do realize that Denard mastered the read-option at Michigan because of how great his vision is, right?

So why does Todman break more big runs despite being so inferior?
Where did I said Todman was inferior?

Denard's biggest strengths are his speed and his vision. That is clear to anyone that has watched him play. Denard's weaknesses are his strength and lateral quickness (ie. no juke moves).

You saying that Todman is twice the player due to vision is ridiculous because it's one of the things that made Denard so dynamic in college. He was phenomenal at running the read option.

lol Toddman is average

Not disputing that. There is a reason he ran with the ones and Denard with the 3rds though

I don't watch much college football. He has shown no vision thus far as a running back in the NFL and base him off this...
toddman sucks. drob will be the #2 by the season opener

people point to denards average other carries while the other rbs did even worse

I'd say Storm looked a better bet for that. Denard better get good at special teams to be worth a spot on the roster.
lol did Denard take your ol lady or something?

Seems unlikely as I live on the other side of the world. His not tying his shoe laces would also really annoy her after a while anyway.

I just don't think he offers more than the others on the roster and Is one dimensional

hahahaha gotcha my dude
I think if Robinson can keep the improved hands that Bortles rollout is gonna be dangerous. Don't forget Gerhorse has some good hooves too.
I wasn't impressed with our runningbacks. Johnson is just a guy. Every team in the NFL has a guy like him. If he is getting a lot of carries it means we don't have anyone. I have never cared for Todman. To me he is not an every down back and that 3.3 career average scares me. D-Rob has the most talent by far but I need to see more. That speed though. Have mercy!!! What bothers me, is that I have watched every preseason game this year and are runningbacks look worse than everyone else's. Now, that is not including Gerhart because I haven't seen him yet.

Maheo, some teams think running backs with 3 yards a carry are worthy of trading first rounders. Can't we call up Grigson?
Denard was splitting reps with Cobb in the 4th quarter of the first preseason game.  That does not look good for him.  I'd hoped to see him more in the 2nd quarter but it didn't happen.  I'm hoping he can show enough progression so the coaches put him on the field earlier.

If it's close, advantage goes to the guy who just learned the position and was drafted for his potential
Well, if it is about potential then Storm is losing that battle.

He scored the only offensive TD of the game. That's showing something.
Denard did enough to keep his stock steady moving forward. He definitely showed acceleration and speed on the TD run.

I think he'll push Johnson to the practice squad.  He and Todman are such different backs that they both could be utilized behind Gerhart.

I said this last season - but I believe it even more now.  Todman is your "sellback" and Denard is your "change of pace" guy. Fisch is clever enough to make that trio work IMO.
