Wow they all looked bad tonight.  Brewster looked horrendous and can't think of one positive think he accomplished. Poor against the run, pass, and botched snaps.  Any Qb could get killed with the interior of our line.

I expect McClendon to start with the one's this week. Brewster may have sealed his fate.
Unless Brewster turns it around I don't think he'll be starting. I thought McClendon did a pretty good job the holding penalty was a farce anyways.

would have been nice to grab the brown's center. forgot his name.

Mack.

I expect us to address center in the offseason. Until then its going to be a long season.
Did anyone see bawanko?  I'm really interested, because I watched his limited college film and he man handled pretty much everyone, including the Rams 1st 1st round pick donald penn(?)

I have been talking about how awful Brewster is for 3 years.

Somebody attempted to take me to task on my assessment a couple weeks ago. Where is that Jr scout now. I'd love to hear his thoughts on Brewster's performance tonight.
McClendon was fine. He had a holding but the replay didn't show anything. He will end up the starter. Brewster is terrible.
Did Linder start at RG tonight?
Anyone that's been paying attention to this team the past 2 years knows Brewster never should have ever been considered as a starter because he definitely didn't earn it.

I watched him on one play. He looked solid on that play. It was against the Bucs 2nd/3rd string, so it may not mean much.

Yeah this is the spot that makes me worry the most on our team to be honest. Brewster was scary....

While Brewster was bad....as was a few other OL....

I'm starting to think the main issue is the OL coach/ scheme.

I would love for someone to ask Bradley or Caldwell what the purpose of switching the offensive line blocking scheme is.

For instance, does running the zone mean you are more likely to find starting caliber lineman that fit your "scheme"  better in later rounds?

What exactly is the benefit of the zone and why change it?

I remember when the Raiders switched to the ZBS under Knapp their running game REALLY struggled.....and that was a year after the same personnel looking really good in a more traditional blocking scheme....

However, that problem might have more to do with Knapp, as he's pretty much sucked wherever he's been in the NFL as an OC. There have been ZBS's that have been successful in the running game in the pro's under better coaches than Knapp.

Exactly.

I mean why else would four new starters on the oline not be playing lights-out by their first preseason game.

The Jags run a hybrid scheme. They use both traditional and ZBS. We struggle at both. What does that tell you?

Time will tell, but the same issues were there last year, and Yarno also oversaw a pretty bad run blocking team in Detroit.

Maybe that the hybrid scheme is too much for these players to absorb? Thats just a guess.

All I do know is that The Jags running game was pretty good in 2012 with largely the same personnel that it sucked with in 2013. The same OL coach that presided over the Jags in 2013, also oversaw bad run blocking teams at his last coaching gig in Detroit.

Just like "start Bortles!", let's let this breathe a little before we start with the knee jerk reactions.

For once...
