Quote:Bortles.
If Bortles is the real deal we'll be able to see it on the field to some degree even though he's a rookie supposedly not ready to start.
Other than that I'm not sure there will be much else we'll really be able to get a real idea of in the preseason.
Really not sure how we can get an honest feel for any QB in this game with the WR situation. Nearly all that may play in the game if Brown may be out wont even be sniffing a roster come September. Not to mention several will just have been here a few days. No timing and unknown play book knowledge.

We'll be able to see how he does when people are running at him trying hard to make a roster spot, we'll see how he wants to play the game (is he following Henne's lead and just always taking the short and easy pass, or is he always looking to make the harder throw down the field) and we'll get to see what kind of desire he has for the game.
If he's giving it his all on every play right now even though it's the preseason that will say something about him.

I guess but considering where they drafted him I sure hope they didn't draft someone who isn't giving his all on every play or has a desire for the game.

So Henne first half, Bortles 3rd quarter, Morris/Stanzi 4th quarter???

Quote:Aaaaand Mike Brown is day to day with a hamstring so we probably won't see him Friday.
Womp. I need to stop being excited for any WR because then bad things happen.

You think they are going to bother to play Henne (a well known quantity that isn't getting better) for the whole first half in the first preseason game? I'd be surprised if he plays the whole first quarter.
Stanzi and Morris probably get time in the second half, but Bortles probably plays the longest of anyone.

Henne - two drives if he leads the team to a scoring drive, three if not. Then Bortles until midway through the 3rd, followed by morris or stanzi.

Agreed, though Henne may play a little longer into the 2nd if they don't have a long scoring drive (FG or TD). I really think Stanzi or Morris will play directly against each other this game. Whoever has the worse showing won't get playing time next game.
Bortles will get the most playing time the 1st game, 2nd, and will probably start the 4th.

Sounds about right

I don't see it happening.
With Gabbert last year I understood why they might play him longer, they were hoping he might show them something. They don't need to see something out of Henne, they already know what he is. If he's still the starter in week 3 of the preseason he will probably play into the 3rd quarter then. As for this week, unless his first pass one of of the two first drives is an interception for a pick-six I doubt we'll see him past the first quarter.

I miss Lonnie Pryor.

I'll be watching Lee, D-Rob, the interior O-line, the pass rush and the safeties. Obviously we'll all want to get our bearings on Bortles' progress.
I still have serious concerns about center and RG. I'd love to see glimpses of improvement from the safeties and the pass rush - and I'd like to see Lee flash some of what we've heard about him doing in camp.

I want to see that 4 Leo front.

Kind of excited to see Storm Johnson.

BTW - Brown being kept out of the end of practice was called 'precautionary' by Bradley and Brown.
I have a feeling we'll have Brown, Shorts and maybe A. Robinson back by week one. (Brown likely sooner)

I'll have my eye on the offensive line. Our line always starts out slow in the preseason, coupled with basically all new starters, Coach Yarno on leave, and the questions at C & RG, there are a lot of questions there.
