Sound principles should be able to be universally applied, but seeing ways to take advantage of the economy of a state is far easier than trying to identify and exploit these opportunities across a nation.

That's true, there were several other factors that led to that boom including the Reagan years, but we do know that Americans don't like Democrat presidents having control of the House of Representatives. Electing a Dem these days pretty much causes the House to go R in the next election cycle. People vote for style to the White House, then they remember that the substance is distasteful.

I don't think anyone could have predicted the impact Ace of Base would have on our economy.
