He looked like a natural center and unlike last year I really can't think of any disastrous plays he caused this year.  LIke the others have said go get some Guards and a Rt in the draft and we will be fine.

For a guy in his first year playing center in the nfl he was a a top 10 center this year.  He will only get better there.

Quote:Was Joeckel's brief stint at LG good enough to warrant bringing him back on a 1 year prove it deal?

Marrone sounds like he likes him.
Quote:Keep Linder at center. Sign Zeitler, resign Omahmeh, and let Cann, Shatley, and Omah battle out for LG and hopefully we draft a RT to compete with Parnell in the early rounds.
I agree with this. I think he'll improve at Center, not that he was in any way bad. Sign a good guard in FA and figure out the right side!

Thank God, he'll probably be gone then. We don't want Joeckel back.
Quote:What were your thoughts on his move to Center? I think he did well and seemed natural at the position. I don't know that he was dominant there like he was at guard though.

Would you prefer he continue working that position, which is a higher premium spot than guard, or draft a center and move him back?

It depends on the next coaching staff and scheme they have in mind to run. Personally I'd rather see him back at guard with us targeting a center in the draft.
O-line rankings per PFF (contraversial I know)

He good.

Draft Guards.
Leave him there. Way easier to find a good guard than a good center. We now have that.
Quote:He needs to be put back at guard and we draft a center. Moving your best offensive linemen to a different position when the unit has struggles in run protection was a bad move.

Actually, it was a great idea given the personnel we had this season, and he did a blockbuster job at the position. Again this week Linder was the highest ranked player at PFF, and he's constantly putting up high marks there. What's so great about our situation is that we absolutely do not "need" to put Linder back at G, but at the same time we certainly know we can. I'd look for the best interior OL player we can find in free agency or the draft after round one, and plug him into whatever spot fits him best. Then put Linder wherever you need him, and if that means staying at Center that'll be just fine. Dude is EASILY one of the league's better starting Centers.

Apparently they base their rankings solely on pass protection, because our run blocking stinks. When you run a largely two back system like we have, and both RB's are averaging less than 4 yards per carry, it shows how bad the O-Line is.

Ahhh, so useless rankings. I get why folks hate them then. haha
Quote:draft his brother. problem solved.
Is Nick Linder a senior? I know he had a season ending injury, but thought he was a junior and would be returning to Miami. If he does come out, he could be a steal in the 3rd or 4th round.

He's a junior.
I'd leave him at Center. Good Centers are harder to find than good Guards. He's shown he can play the position very well. We just need to fill the LG spot and possibly RT; at least with more good depth.

I figure he'll end up at Center unless some absolute stud Center just falls into our laps. If so, it's no big dead to just move Linder back to G. That's why I'm saying just target the best interior OL and then plug in Linder where we need him.

Quote:Should have signed Mack and kept Linder at guard.
If only every player the Jags wanted to sign would sign here.

It's not like there's 31 other teams or anything.

In hindsight, yes we should have.

Mack's 2015 season, as I recall, wasn't all that good. Linder seemed to be the better option.
I honestly can't tell.  Everyone says Linder is great, so maybe he is, but I don't pretend to know how to evaluate offensive linemen.   I guess it's a good thing that he's not noticed in a negative light, like some other centers in the past (remember Mike Brewster?)...
Need a RG and a RT
