Quote:Are we just talking about a backup here or someone to replace Bortles? I assumed we were talking about replacing Bortles. In the case of a backup, I am more than happy with Glennon and maybe even McCarron. As far as the eye test goes, Jimmy G. Is miles better than Bortles IMO.

Yeah, I'm thinking unless we can get Romo, we're basically looking for a guy to backup Bortles, but who has the ability to start if Blake doesn't bring it.

Quote:Bradford is not a better QB. Bradford has always been overrated by owners and GM's in the NFL. The guy is a completely average QB. Nothing more, nothing less. He needs to be on a team with a solid O-Line, a good RB and a go to receiver and solid role receivers to succeed. He's just not the type of QB to win games with his arm. I don't think he ever will be.
Jimmy is currently being overrated right now by his GM, and has never played in his illustrious two games of NFL experience without a solid oline, good rb, and go to receivers meanwhile sam has had basically none of those things, so im not sure what argument youre making here that favors Jimmy. Theres nothing to suggest Jimmy is better than Sam at all really.

Looking at his career, there is nothing to suggest Sam is better than Jimmy. Jimmy is an unknown, but Sam is completely unspectacular. Jimmy has upside, but Bradford has peaked. He'll get no better than what he is. It isn't fair to say Sam is better than Jimmy. At this point, we just don't know, because Jimmy has yet to be a starting QB.

I think the two game starts are great film on Jimmy. You see his mechanics are spot on, he is tremendously accurate and gets the ball out before pressure. The Cardinals are strong, well-coached defensive unit and he was very impressive in that game. He did not look like a game manager, he didn't rely on the run game or the short yardage. NE's receivers are always possession players who run good routes. I can only imagine what Jimmy can do with Robinson, Lee and Hurns if he plays

Anyone who thinks Jimmy is a game manager needs to watch his two starts this season. that's no game manager over there.

Sam playing better than Jimmy in Jimmys two starts suggests that hes better than Jimmy. Upside isnt quantifiable, so its pretty much irrelevant here.

Didnt see the cardinals game but theres nothing special in the miami game. Like 4 somewhat impressive throws on one of the worst secondaries in the league at the time, mixed in with a lot of slants and screens.

Sam hasn't played better, compared to Jimmy's two starts. Granted, Garoppolo has a much smaller sample size, but Sam's entire career has been completely underwhelming.
Quote:That's the price tag of a team quite comfortable with not trading a guy.

Pretty much. If they do get an offer they like, they'll trade him and just do the same thing until it's time they actually need to replace Brady.
Brady has pretty hair too.
