Quote:Jaguars WRs coach Jerry Sullivan is high on UDFA Allen Hurns.

"I like the kid," Sullivan said. "I think he has some natural instincts. He has a chance to help us." Hurns drew praise this spring and has a chance to stick at the bottom of the Jags' depth chart. At 6-foot-1 and 195 pounds, Hurns ran a 4.54 forty at February's Combine. He's unlikely to contribute much on offense.

In your quote the author seems to indicate that 40 time speed translate to on the field speed. Jerry Rice Ran a 4.7 at the combine. Blackmon certainly played faster than his 40 yard time.  I honestly think it's a useless event.  What a guy runs with shorts and on track does not really translate how a player runs with cleats on a football field.

I agree. 40 times give you an idea of how fast a guy is but doesn't tell the whole story and isn't end all be all. Some guys outperform their 40 time while others cant seem to play to the level of their underwear times.
Hurricane fans loved Hurns...he's a big play WR and so was his QB who is also on the roster.

Mike Brown may be as good as any of them right now.  I look for him to have a big preseason and play a significant role until the young guys learn the pro game.

Even I have to laugh a bit that PITT had 2 winners from the years 2000 and 2003  (Fitzgerald & Antonio Bryant)

Quote:I'd love to see this...

X (split-end): 1. Shorts 2. Robinson

Z (flanker): 1. Blackmon 2. Lee

slot: 1. Lee 2. Ace Sanders

utility (4th): Brown

Practice Squad: Hurns

Phone number of speed dial in case of injury: Tandon Doss

THIS WOULD BE EPIC. Just split them all out wide and throw the rock! Shotgun 4 wide with Ace lining up next to the QB in the backfield.

In this "should Blackmon return" scenario, I should probably go ahead and swap Ace Sanders and Tandon Doss.

Of course it doesn't matter who we have at WR, someone will always abuse alcohol/drugs and ruin it.

I still remember finally giving Matt Jones the light of day until he got busted with cocaine and ruin his career.

I really really feel we will see Blackmon back at some point with this team though. Yes, he's been a complete basketcase, but I just don't honestly feel in my heart he is ready to throw it all away and never try again.
