I would be very down with signing him. He's 28, so probably has at least three good years left, and his addition would allow the team to move a corner to free safety for competition with Evans and Guy in camp. Also a pretty good Bradley-corner fit. He's not huge, but he's a chippy, physical player.
Any word on why he was released?
Because he can't play press man.
I thought I read he is a bit undersized and Chiefs wanted to get bigger at the position, which, of course would not be what Bradley is looking for in a corner.
I don't see any way he ends up here.
Per Rotoworld:
Chiefs released CB Brandon Flowers.
Flowers' performance and usefulness in Kansas City slipped dramatically under new DC Bob Sutton last season, as a press-man scheme was installed in the secondary and Flowers failed to find a fit. He wound up mostly at slot corner, and was beaten relentlessly. The Chiefs were trying to trade Flowers, but found no takers for his contract. Flowers had some of the best years of his career under now-Texans DC Romeo Crennel, and cornerback depth is needed in Houston. We wouldn't be surprised to see them reunite. Flowers turned 28 in February.

I don't see him coming to Jacksonville. He would probably want to go to a contender. While I don't think the Texans are, the familiarity might compel him. That would be huge for Houston.

^^ this ^^
Plus, he's not aging well. When it goes, it goes fast sometimes.
Pioli will likely make a run at him. ..again.

dont really see him being a "Bradley-corner fit"
Could he be turned into a FS?

Not at all. We can't use "mediocre" man coverage.
I've always thought of him as more of a free safety type, even in college at VT. He's never been a "shutdown" man-on guy but has a nose for the football, both on the ground and in the air. Playing off coverage he's stout against the run and can tackle.
So, for our system the only option may be FS. But don't count on that when there's probably a zone team that will sign him for a nice chunk of change. The big question is whether or not his drop in play was simply scheme misfit or diminishing skills.
I certainly would not be against bringing him in as a potential FS option. He'd still be on the small side, i.e. sub - 200 lbs, but in our defense, he'd certainly be a better fit at FS than CB.
Whoa! Did you hear the browns released Quentin Groves??
lol the chiefs released him because he signed a contract worth being a great starter after a good season, but only lived up to being an above average starter and his play reflected that last year so they cut their losses. I wouldn't mind bringing him in since he kind of fits the bill at 28 but only if its worth the price.
He got burned a lot last year on the outside which is why he played mostly inside.

It's funny too, because i never realized that was the Quentin groves we drafted. I thought it was just some dude that had the same name because I thought after he left here no one wanted him.
Know what's really funny? Reshean Mathis playing for the lions still.

He's definitely got the range for it. I guess we'll see where he goes first.
