Quote:For some reason, there is a mindset within the national media that Jacksonville and it's fans do not deserve anything.
There was one ESPN talking head last year that ranted about the city paying 40 million for it's portion of the stadium upgrades. Said something about the city would be better off putting the money towards roads or schools.
He (of course) did not understand legally where that money could be spent. But that would require actual research.
Other cities spend hundreds of millions on stadiums and nobody bats an eyes.
But Jacksonville spends 40 million of tourist tax revenue? STOP THE PRESSES!!!
You don't have to go as far as ESPN to find people who don't understand how the funding works.
Just read the comments attached to any article about the Jaguars and the renovations at Jacksonville.com.
Roads?... Where we're going, you don't need... roads.
Remember the game in Oakland last year when their ENTIRE UPPER DECK was covered in tarps, yet nary a word from our esteemed sports media? It makes me want to throttle someone. Or kick Who Douglas in the nuts on the fifty yard line during half time. Yeah, that would work.

There would be a line around the block for that bit of fun!!
Some pencil neck wimpy geek comedian named Colbert cracked jokes at the Jaguar pool idea.

A comedian made jokes? Wow, that was unexpected.

Now that could raise some local revenue. $10 raffle tickets and winner gets to kick " who " in his beanbags.

Who does he think he is? A comedian or something?
