Quote:Nice to see her talk about that. The panic mode way they report a daily thunderstorm is borderline ridiculous. We get it. It's summer. Atlantic sea breeze meets Gulf of Mexico sea breeze and storms pop up. Anyone who has been here a season or two knows the drill.
I set my watch to the daily 3:30 "we'z gonna diez" reports, personally. If it weren't for that, I wouldn't know when to panic.

That sounds way better than the news report we get here.
Ours is just a live feed of the baking airport Tarmac and the guy will say "triple digits today, air quality index bad, sports up next!"
That being said, when we do get an occasional thunderstorm, you Jaxsonvillians (?) would get the biggest kick out of the panic people go through here. 1/2 of rain and it's pandemonium.

Yeah, but it's so flat there that a couple inches of rain means flooding. But you guys haven't seen that much rain in quite a while, have you?

We had a couple roll through in Feb that were in the half inch range but as a whole we're in the midst of a three year drought.
As you already know, we don't sniff rain from April to late September. It's been unusually windy this year though.

Isn't that how the "Dust Bowl" started? :whistling:

We go no-till if need be.
I very rarely watch television or local news, but if I do it's usually channel 4.
I've dealt with some of these guys both professionally and personally. On-air they all pretty much have equal talent. Off the air and personally, I've never had a problem with Kouvaris. Yes he is a "diva" of sorts and tries to portray himself as a "celebrity", but once you get to know him, he's really not a bad guy.
Hicken has the same "celebrity" complex and can be a real jerk. If he doesn't "know" you, he comes across as a pompous (another name for a donkey).
