while I agree there is a ton of variables I just feel if they can build that confidence that they can do something they'd be a lot better off. Whether that be academically or otherwise.

i agree it's a problem but I don't think strong parenting always has to be the foundation. I think education could be/should something these kids can rely on as an alternative. Sometimes a great teacher/professor or whatever can turn a kids life around. It's just a matter of having someone to believe in them when their parents don't.
