I'd really rather not go for a college coach. Yes, I would rather hire an up and coming coordinator, but I really think the candidates need to have some NFL experience. The college game is much different than the NFL. Just get someone who holds players responsible and who knows what he is doing. Don't hire another "rah-rah" cheerleader type with no spine, like we had with Gus.

If we're going to go with a college coach, I'd hope we'd at least go after a top tier coach.

No thx on Freeze
hahahaha no

You do know Hugh Freeze is only a good coach cuz he paid good players to come there right?

Even with all that talent this year they were not very good

Quote:Harbaugh? Caroll? Yes there's a good share of duds but it's not as if a college coach has never succeeded in the NFL
Harbaugh is a former NFL player, Dad was a big time coach and  Caroll was a NFL coach before he went to college.
NO DADDY, NOOOOOO

Naww not true... Trust me

I heard that about Mularkey too.
He's a well respected offensive mind. Perhaps he can offer some ideas or perspective on Bortles in the interview at very least.
No.

It's the time of year when the agents for these guys start floating rumors about how much in demand their client is, in the hopes of getting a new contract.

This has to be the case, because I cannot believe that Hugh Freeze is really under consideration for the head coaching job here.  We are not that hard up for candidates.  I mean, what has that guy ever done to warrant consideration for a head coaching job in the NFL?

We'll sign him as the next head coach and he'll draft Chad Kelly with our 2ND RD pick.

Quote:Freeze in a few years may be able to make the jump to the NFL but not now. His offense won't make the NFL. In terms of being a good coach, I think he's fantastic. To take a 2-10 team in the most brutal division in College Football and make them a threat in just two years, that's impressive to me. One day he may make the jump but he needs a few years. He's only been coaching football for a short time. Hell he was a girls high school basketball coach like 15 years ago. Not ready yet for the big league but to say he isn't a good coach is laughable

He reeled in big time high school players with money. No legit five star prospects consider Ole Miss without money being thrown at them.

And his teams would start hot and fade down the stretch.
He can barely win in the sec, what makes people think he can win in the NFL? Lol we need proven no more experiments.
