Twitter people seem to think the deal will be 5 years for around 30 mil.

What was the original deal's worth? 5 years and ?? dollars?

The Jaguars are going to be looking to cash in on the renovations being done at the stadium, and the broader exposure they're working on with the expanded radio/television network (EverBank plays a prominent role in their advertising for both), as well as the expanded international profile with the games in London.

I think $30 million is probably close.  We'll see.  When EverBank signed the original deal, I think everyone was just happy to have a named sponsor on the building.  The Jaguars have gone above and beyond in putting their brand just about everywhere you look.   As the team improves on the field, that brand is going to get a lot more camera time.  For a company like EverBank that is competing with the big boys for the same business in banking, having their name out there, and partnering with a guy like Shad Khan just makes too much sense.  I think if you read that article, they get it.

Do you ever actually read the articles before expressing an opinion?

Quote:The deal paid the Jaguars $3 million the first season, $3.15 million in 2011, $3.3 million in 2012, $3.5 million in 2013 and $3.6 million this year.

Based on the current numbers, and also looking at a sluggish, but slowly improving economy, I think something that averages in the $6-8 million per year is probably about right.  I would think Khan would stick with a 5 year deal so they can continue to adjust as things improve.

Keep in mind that a lot of the revenue the team is receiving now is not being shared with the city.  I'd have to do some digging to see when they will begin splitting this revenue again because it wasn't a permanent arrangement that allowed the team to retain all of the revenues from advertising and naming rights.

So this deal would be double what they got last time....(if the estimated numbers for the new deal are correct).

I'm hoping for a little bit more than that, but I guess they can't complain if they do get that. If the team continues its ascent, even that  price will probably be a bargain.

I think double is just speculation.  I would expect Khan to be looking to boost that even more, but with the caveat that if they invest what he's asking, he'll make it worth their while.

When the team was in London, Khan hosted a dinner inside the guard facility of the London Tower.  At this dinner, he included companies he does business with at Flex-N-Gate, corporate sponsors for the game over there, sponsors from Jacksonville, city representatives from Jax, and a host of other prominent business representatives.  It was almost like a millionaire/billionaire speed dating thing with the city and with Shad Khan.

During the dinner, Khan basically laid out a strategy that had less to do with building up the game, and almost everything to do with using the Jaguars and Fulham as vehicles to help build their businesses, and  to help expand the profile for the city of Jacksonville.

There were a lot of handshake deals that were apparently cooked up during that dinner, and during the week they were in London.  EverBank would want a seat at that table almost certainly.  I see the naming rights deal as their ticket.

Khan is our owner.

He's only been here -oh-...3 years now....I think thats long enough have the correct spelling of his name be second nature.

Excuse me oh master for a typing error. Some of us jump on here to contribute while at work, and don't have the time to proofread comments.

c'mon man....its not that hard to know the proper spelling of the owner's name

Citing "work" as an excuse for not getting it right, is kinda lame.

I don’t why but it seems like the stadium just became EverBank Field yesterday and now we’re about to start the final season of the current deal. Per this article the Jaguars and EverBank are now negotiating so I think there’s a good chance the name of the stadium doesn’t change which I think  is good for all sides (Jaguars, EverBank, the city).

How much do you think EverBank would be willing to pay this time around? After reading the article and understanding how much better the economy is, especially the banking sector, stadium improvements and the additional events that could come because of it I could see a 10 year/$60 million deal possible.

What say you?

Hah...

The stadium is just about to have two monstrous screens, a cabana area and a pool. This is going to be a premier stadium, according to Shad and Lamping, and it will be a premier cost for the naming rights. I can't imagine that a relatively small local bank like Everbank would be able to do it if the price is around what you suggested.

A $6M a year cost of naming rights would be a tough pill to swallow for Everbank.

Always liked the idea of that... "take it to the House!"

Maxwell House would be a better sponsor for The Baseball Grounds.

Aw c'mon man... it was a simple albeit amateur mistake.  When I'm working, it's very common for the boss to walk into my office un-announced, and if he sees me posting on a Jaguars message board rather than working... it's not a good thing.
LoL @ Save Rite Stadium..

EverBank has the resources.

Its crazy that the time is already coming up for the deal, That seemed super fast. I do hope Everbank stays, i enjoy that name.

I remember talking to John Delaney back in about 2002-03 time and he told me the deal was for the company with naming rights had to cover the expense of annual asset maintenance for normal and predictable expenses which at that time was projected to be $3 million per year. So $6 million per year seems to be in the ballpark (pardon the pun).

Also, a luxury suite is included of course.

don't care what company it is.  i hope they get the most for local revenue as possible.

Maybe we can steal away Amway's sponsorship from the Orlando basketball arena.  Wouldn't that be something?  A company we can all be proud of sponsoring our football team's stadium.
Quote:The thing is, Alltel Stadium was well known nation wide.  In fact, you still hear people here talking about "going to Alltel Stadium" for certain events.

Even Garmin still calls it Alltel Stadium. Mom registered her GPS to update the roads every year, so I always wondered why the name on it was not changed to EverBank Field.

At the time it was called Alltel Stadium, many double-letter names were on our roster, so vit fit purrfectly.
