Are you saying a player should know not to trust the team doctor, or he should assume personal responsibility to learn about the long term effects of each medication?

So which is it? Try to contribute to the conversation, rather than fall back on the usual blather about "personal responsibility" "old generation, new generation". etc. etc. Your act gets tiresome when there are real issues to discuss. Now, if we're talking about food or whatever feel free to throw in your usual silliness.

"Doctors" once advised the Atkins diet.....yeah, how'd that one work out?....

The ultimate responsibility of what you put into your body lies on YOURSELF.

Now I know your type hates that notion, as you vehemently HATE that term of personal responsibility, but its true. If the Doctor said drinking a cup of Drano in the morning was safe, would you do that too??

listen starting at 7:05....

"Your type"! LOL. Classic.

So you self medicate, I take it. Wouldn't want to take the word of a medical professional, would you?

You've tied yourself up into such a bind that you've sunk into absurdity. Congratulations.

Yeah "your type".....:

Self medicate? No, I never said that. I am just careful about what I choose to put in my body, and understand that what I do, even after any advice from a doctor - its still ultimately MY decision/ my call.

Did you even listen to the link at 7:05 onward that was provided? Probably not. Too busy looking for someone else to blame or sue for your bad choices, I presume.

You've become a one trick pony. What did the audio say that's so enlightening?

Let me know how your do-it-yourself-surgery goes.

You don't get it - it's not about personal responsibility. It's about being lied to by doctors and teams. But you're so hung up on you canned responses that you can't see the issue clearly. Nothing new.

They still do, and it still works though the new marketing name for it is "Paleo" and involves tons of coconut for some reason. Just like the drugs the players got worked then and work now so they should shut up about the scientific wonders that enabled them to make millions playing a game.

Clearly he doesn't think Medical Malpractice exists.
Don't you guys ever get tired of this same cycle of conversations? You know what it will entail and you know how it will end. What's the point?
Guys that laid the foundation for the NFL as we know it today are simply trying to get a piece of the multi- billion dollar pie. They have a legitimate complaint and should be compensated in some fashion.

I agree, it does.

So does personal responsibility, or used to. Now its the blame someone else generation.

I wish they'd put a $$$ cap on all these lawsuits, it would be funny seeing the volume go down to almost nil.

Cap at 5% the portion "counsel" can take then see what happens.

At the same time, an organization as flush with cash as the NFL should be doing something substantial to provide health care for the veterans who didn't work in the era of free agency and multi-million dollar contracts.

100% in agreement.

My beef isn't with getting players the requisite health care they need/ deserve....my beef is with the "get rich quick" lawsuit bull poop.

Suing for damages = get rich quick? You do know how suing someone works don't you? You can't just claim millions of dollars because something bad happened and being rich will make it all fuzzy and better, you claim the cost to put things right. In this case, if that's $1 million dollars for dialysis for the rest of your days in order to live a normal life, then that's what you get.

Hows about the doctors who knowingly gave bad advice and organizations who employed them to give out that bad advice shoulder some responsibility too?

It works both ways. A person has a responsibility for what goes into their body, but a doctor has even a bigger responsibility to administer the proper medicine/therapy to treat the injuries and provide subsequent care afterwards.

If you were prescribed medicine that the doctor knew beforehand could cause permanent damage to your body down the line but purposely withheld that information, I guess you would have complete low self-esteem and blame yourself right? That seems to be the thesis around your opinion in this discussion.
