Blackmon had an amazing story coming out of college too.. These are generally good people, it's the stupid decisions they make what hurts. Good for Bortles..

What a great guy this Justin Blackmon is ......

Joking aside --- It really is nice to read the Bortles story.   From everything I've read, he's definitely what we need here in Jacksonville !!!

The fact that he did this insisting on the press not being notified in any way reminds me a lot of the kind of charity work we saw from Byron Leftwich when he was with the team.

I remember stumbling into a huge charity event involving a kid's charity that was housed in the same building I worked in.  Leftwich was there to help the kids celebrate Christmas.  He brought a Hummer full of toys for the kids in attendance.  He was taking time to do pictures with each one of the kids, and actually hung out for quite a while.  I talked to one of the people working for the charity, and she said he insisted on not allowing press in because then it would become a circus, and that's not what he wanted.

When I see how Bortles not only showed up for this event with the kids, but that he's been continuing to show up since he was a player in high school, and it sounds like this is something he'll probably keep up as a pro, it gives you a good sense for the kind of person he is.  Hopefully things pan out on the field because this guy is going to be pure gold for this franchise and our community if that's the case.

We've got pure gold in Blake Bortles....  loved this story.

I really liked Leftwich.  Too bad he couldn't have fixed that release, he may have been a solid starting QB.
And I do mean old.  As in, games from the 1990′s

I feel old. Great story.
Hmmm.....I wonder if he could've gotten #9 instead  . An amazing story may just have been even greater

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

And I seem to remember just recently an Hue and Cry that we no longer had a..................wait for it.

Blake said during his presser he does not care what number we give him. I am sure they gave him #5 because UCF did. But this article makes me wonder why he did not request #9 at UCF.

It is a shame most people look at the bad guys like Aaron Hernandez and forget most NFL players do good things for their communities.
