Wasn't sure where to post this as the article isn't directly related to the team but feel free to move it to wherever it belongs..
but I read this last night & thoroughly enjoyed it. Wanted to share with anyone who may have missed it...

2 things that stood out & made me smile from ear to ear ..
"At one point Bortles found himself 15 or so feet from Johnny Manziel, who helped himself to a long, lupine look at Lindsey Duke, Bortles's equally popular girlfriend. "Watch, now he'll send a runner over for her," wisecracked one member of the Bortles party."
...
Ooooh a Rocky & Mr. T moment. Ok, well not quite but still the potential is there
"They did a phenomenal job getting the guy they wanted," said Ryan Tollner, who was happy to be duped. When the Browns came on the clock, one pick after Bortles was taken, they promptly traded back to No. 9 -- a strong indication, Tollner pointed out, "that their guy was off the board."

The Browns are maintaining that Manziel was their top guy, and they are trying to say that they tried trading up to #10 for Manziel.
Still think Bortles will have the better career. In fact I think Bortles, Bridgewater, Carr, Murray, and McCarron will have the better careers than Johnny not-quite-six-foot tall.
...I'll be watching Garropolo as, according to Dave, he was their #2 on the QB board - & obviously the Pats #2 after Bortles. Who got the better guy? Or maybe it's more a question of who has the better QB development coach? A lot is riding on Frank Scelfo - no one seems to talk about that very much.
If Garoppolo was Dave's #2 QB, I'm really glad we got Bortles. Matt Waldman had a good article demonstrating some of the issues with him. We'll see if the Patriots do anything with him, but I think he won't end up going too far - much like Ryan Mallett.

While I look forward to every NFL season, this upcoming season has become one of the most anticipated NFL seasons for Jags fans in a long time. So much drama out there as far as all the QB's go.
Which QB should have been the first selected? Second? Third?
Which QB will be the 1st to start for his team?
Which QB will get off to the better start and who will struggle?
Which QB will have the best season of all the ones who actually get to play?
Are any of them even going to be in the running for ROTY?
How is Manziel going to the Browns going to start? How is it going to end up? Will he learn how to slide or will he end up like RG3 and get injured?
How about Teddy in Minn? Will he be as accurate as he was at UL? Or was his pro day a sign of things to come playing in the cold weather division that he went to?
And of course, the biggest question of all, when will the Blake Bortles era begin right here in Jax? Will he really sit for an entire season or will he show that he is ready to play sometime during the upcoming season?
So many questions to be answered.
Stay tuned for one of the most anticipated NFL seasons in quite a while for us Jags fans......................................................................................
Quote:Two weeks before the draft, one assistant coach openly discussed a potential play in the wide receivers' meeting room, then opted not to install it because, he said, "Johnny can't handle it" right away. Shortly afterward, Jacksonville wideout Cecil Shorts, a Rep1 client, texted another of the company's agents, Chase Callahan, to let him know that the team intended to draft Manziel.

Maybe this was that so called 'leak'.

He coached JP Losman and Shaun King at Tulane, and Nick Foles at Arizona. Not much success and no experience at the pro level to gauge how well he will do with Bortles. Still have high hopes though

Isn't that something? I have to believe that Shorts has been "spoken to" about that - right? It seems like a big deal to me - to have a player make a call to an agent to discuss something so sensitive & confidential. He's either flat out denied it or it's been discussed with "the higher ups" & they've moved on. Either way - it makes me wonder about Cecil's loyalty to the organization and who's best interest he has at heart.

Maybe... or maybe it was an intentional leak designed not to seem intentional. Maybe Caldwell had a feeling that a comment like that being slipped into the meeting would some how find it's way out of the building.
