Blakeonator.

I find it quite ironic that Blake has had more Media Training and Savvy than any of the 1010XL. The football program program taught Blake how to handle reporters and media. That is a credit for UCF and how he represents his Alma Mater. Dempsey should know better and probably results from a lack of live experience vs the radio booth.I hope he gets some helpful pointers from Jaguars Media Mother-ship.

A nickname will coalesce from the fanbase. What if any collegiate moniker did Blake have?

I think Warbortles is still my favorite

Jags r blake
Bortles 5 (a play on Voltes V)

Oh noooo. Ballou said Bortles was shaky in practice. Accuracy problems, ducks, wobbly passes. Whelp,

Looks like we blew it, folks.

Can we trade back for Gabbert?

That dude was money in practice.

I'm not sure what Ballou was looking at.  The majority of Bortles passes looked fine.  The ones he had difficulty with were the deep balls, and in each case, he overthrew his receivers.  I don't recall seeing any ducks, and the wobbly passes he's referencing were caught.

I think we can still get him with a 5th rounder.

Wobbly passes were a common enough occurrence in Bortles' game at UCF, often because his mechanics was off. He fixed that for his Pro Day. If he's already going back to his old habits, then the staff needs to get right on him and correct it before it becomes too big a problem.

He's getting all the attention he could ever want from his coordinator and position coach.

I think the need to nitpick here is strong in Ballou.  The "wobbly passes" he mentioned weren't the type we grew accustomed to seeing from that kid who played in Gainesville a few years ago.  A few of the deeper passes had a slight wobble, but not alarming at all especially considering the fact that the wind was blowing at a pretty good clip throughout camp.  On some of the deep passes he completed, we were surprised he was able to do so because of the gusts.

Ballou was standing almost directly in front of me, so the same wind that was beating us up in the stands had to be impacting him as well.  I guess he just needed to critique something to prove he was paying attention.

I think Ballou is still mad that we didn't draft Teddy. I remember Ballou was sticking with Teddy @ 3 even after Teddy's subpar workout @ Louisville.
Ballou has never liked Bortles because he thinks he came out of nowhere and has been ranting about it for months.

That said, overthrowing deep balls is something that I saw Bortles had trouble with during his proday as well.

Overthrows are fine at this point. I'd be more concerned if he couldn't get the ball there.

Regarding Ballou and his disregard for Bortles, hopefully he's wrong.

I remember Roethlisberger said one time how much he loved playing with Mike Wallace, because he could never out throw him on a deep ball. I'd rather take an overthrown deep ball over an underthrown one.

Yea I was gonna say if his biggest problem is over throwing the deep ball, thats a good sign.
