Quote:Same here, though we are already planning to take our boy to Jax when the current London series deal expires. He will be 5 by then, so we are gonna do a week in Jax and a week in Disney. After visiting Jax for the draft party last week my love for the team and town has hit an all time high. It really is a gorgeous city, full of lovely friendly people - I hope the London series opens doors for far more UK'ers to enjoy the place. Direct flights would be nice though!
My sister is visiting Jax this year. She doesn't even like football! So mad  -_-  Myself, I'm planning on heading over once my kids are old enough to enjoy it too. Probably head down to Orlando or Tampa and make a week of it.

I agree with everyone as far as 1 home game goes too. More than one would be unfair on the fans in Jacksonville who have supported this team through the bad times.
Still don't like it but I get the reason for it so it's whatever to me. Like most said as long as it stays to one.
It's good for fans like me who live in London and I obviously enjoy it. Having said that, I can also understand the point coming from the fans who hold season tickets that they miss the extra home game. I'm a fan of Charlton Athletic (football/soccer) team based in London and I'd be a bit angry really if one of our games was moved to the US. On the whole though, it clearly expands the Jaguars fan-base because, let's face it, we've been poor the last two seasons and that's when American Football really kicked off in England. Despite that the Jaguars have one of the biggest fan-bases of all NFL teams in England.   :thanks:

Quote:15 % revenue based off one game a year in London is insane.

not really if you look at the fact that revenue per home game comes to about 12.5% on a regular season game. Wow 2.5% increase.. you have been had by Shads Analytical stat jumbler of a son.

Are we certain that local revenue is due to home games alone though? Wouldn't that also include sponsorships and merchandise sales, things of that ilk?

Dont like the home game in London at all, but I understand the urgency the FO has to increase the revenue stream, and bottom line within a short time span.

If the profit margins are not to Khan's liking after this 4 year contract is up, I wouldn't be surprised to see him renew for another 4 years, or add 2 games to the London site.

Lamping made it clear when he first arrived that having the league's lowest ticket prices will not work as a financial viability for the team to stay in Jax.

Prices will have to be raised across the board to make them financially competitive with the other 31 teams.

Having an increased Average Ticket Price does not mean that your seat in the upper deck is going become more expensive. Obviously, Lamping and the team see the benefit of having more premium and special area seating. They are looking at removing hundreds (if not thousands) of club seats. They aren't selling 30% of the club seats now. Remove the unsold seats. Add fewer (but more expensive) premium seats. Boom, per ticket average goes up.
I fall in the Yes/No boat. I think it's great for the franchise. I think it helps get the name out there more. But I don't like that a home game is taken away. I might be ok with the poll question if it was a design where the Jags would play a game in London for the next 10-15 years and it was a home game one year, away game the next. An alternating rotation.

Sorry I didn't have all the possible responses guys!!! Lolol it's good to hear everyone's thoughts. I hope more UK jag fans become interested in visiting jax and vice versa. I will make it out to London hopefully next year.
I went last year. My first time in London. It was a great experience despite the outcome of the game.

That's pretty much where I'm at.  If it helps to secure the team for the long term here in Jax, I'll bite the bullet and accept the fact that I'm losing a home game while paying the same price for my tickets.

I don't think alternating would have the same impact on the bottom line for the team.  Shad is getting the ticket and advertising revenue from the game as the home team.

You know many businesses who turn their nose up at a 2.5% revenue increase?

They said during the address yesterday that if not for the London game, the Jags would have been in the negative for revenue last year.

The local revenue stream isn't just ticket sales.  The reason London accounted for as much as it did was partly due to the fact that they had a larger stadium with higher ticket prices, but the majority of the revenue came from all the sponsorship and advertising dollars the team secured.  Every official event had a corporate sponsor pumping money into it.  Every trinket they gave to fans had corporate money behind it.  Advertising on the video boards and for static displays were revenue generating for the Jags.  It was a week long event last year, and every event was sponsored.

They also mentioned that the Union Jacks fan club over there was an additional revenue stream, as was merchandise sales.  They found a way to monetize taking the team from the 31st most popular franchise in London to what?  Top 5?  That's all revenue that wasn't ticket sale related, and it was accounted for in the 15% figure they touted.

Yes my ticket was 225 USD in London, and my seat at EverBank is 62 USD and with a better location.

Whats suprising as well is that we did not generate more sales from merchandise (Seeing we had new jerseys/ logos, etc). I believe London is important for the Jags to drive this revenue stream as well.

Our Brand (The Jags) is said to have expanded into other area of Europe as well. I  would believe this is due to our influence on this side of the world now.

Merchandise revenue was up, but that's going to be a process.  All that new stuff isn't going to draw in the sales.  Winning will.  As the team improves, so will merchandise sales.  If the Jags nailed it and have a star on their hands from this draft, rest assured sales will follow.  It's about getting better across the board.

The expansion of the brand overseas is going to help with that in a big way.  I was skeptical at first, but now that we've seen their plan in action, and we've seen the results, I'm sold.  Build the brand as large as is necessary in Europe, secure the team in Jacksonville, then help the city grow from the small market as it's perceived now into a mid-sized, international market attracting businesses from around the globe.  The only thing I dread is that Jacksonville lose the quiet beaches lifestyle for a more cosmopolitan atmosphere like Miami lite.  I love our quaint beach community, and think that's part of the appeal of this area, so whatever we do, let's keep the tourists to a minimum.
I don't live in Jacksonville anymore but I do understand its best for business but I don't really like American football being international sport. It's great to see the excitement from these London Jaguar fans. Any early predictions for London game in Nov

The Jaguars don't collect ticket revenue from the London games. The NFL takes the ticket money and compensates the home team for their loss of ticket revenue.
Quote:That's awesome. Were you in town for something else or did you come for the draft party only? Would have definitely treated you to a few rounds had we met.
