Quote:Having that Orlando Sentinal writer cracking vile jokes is no help. What's with that dude?

The sports writers of that market could be a big help if we could turn them our way.

That's Bianchi (sp?).  He's been sore on the franchise since the blackouts and especially when we didn't draft or sign Tebow.  Diehard man crush on Tebow, that guy.
Quote:Sure I understand that, Tampa, Miami and Jacksonville have teams and THEY don't.

But instead of having an endless chip on their shoulder, their local media should line up with one and get a new attitude.

They will never have a team anyway.

Don't hold your breath for that to happen.

It wasn't Bianchi in this instance.
I can't stand Bianchi and his constant "If the Jaguars were smart" columns. It was Tebow for four years. He wrote one last year about how we need to hire Gruden. Then it was Bortles. Now that we have Bortles, it's "they need to play a game in Orlando". Like we the Jaguars somehow owe Orlando.

I have an idea. Want to watch Bortles play? How about you jump in your car and drive two hours to Jacksonville.

And now that we have one of the nicest stadiums, why would the team want to play in that crap Citrus Bowl?  It's also no guarantee that the team would actually do well there.

The Citrus Bowl is getting upgrades. But even so, what is the motivation to play a home game there? There is none.

I hope they put up a billboard right in front of the Orlando Sentinel. Right outside of Jerry Greene's office window..

Quote:That was quick.
That was quick and awesome. Khan is the man.
Quote:To that end I wish the Jags would try to include the Orlando media more. Designate an Orlando station as “Orlando’s Home of the Jaguars” (don’t include Jacksonville). This should also be done for Gainesville, and Tallahassee and any other city in our region that has actual TV stations based there.

Just like reporters from our local stations have gone to the games in Gainesville, or Tallahassee to cover UF and FSU games personally rather than using footage shot by some other station or network they should be here personally. This would go a long way towards regionalizing the franchise. I’d also love it if those cities would also have their local newspapers cover the Jags rather than relying on the AP.
Great idea
Quote:Orlando is a huge and diverse market, I agree it's transient, but they support the Magic very well and if a team would make a concerted effort to market there then I believe that the fans will follow, especially Bortles. Also, why not try and cater to the hospitality market? Sell ticket packages that include a trip to Disney and a Jags game? What about an all inclusive sports package that includes a Jags game, Magic game and a trip to the ESPN sports complex down by Disney? If you get creative there is potential for sure.
They support the Magic, when they are winning. Winning is the great equalizer, anywhere.

When they announced WJXT and 1010XL as the new official stations, they also announced Orlando station WKMG as an official station. I believe it was the first time they have had one outside of Jacksonville. Not sure what type of coverage they will give the team but there is that "official" designation.

I think Orlando is more like 2.5 hours away.  I don't see it being a secondary market.  Sure there will be some fans here and there, but it's not worth the effort imo.  I think it's good to "expand the brand" or whatever like with London, but I don't think it will necessarily equate to ticket sales.

The Magic do pretty well anyway. They have had the worst combined record in the NBA the past two seasons and finished 17th and 23rd respectively in attendance. Amway is probably the nicest arena in the league. I highly recommend it to anyone.

Yeah, this front office has done a good job of beginning the process of rebuilding the radio AND TV networks for the Jaguars so there will be coverage between Orlando and Charleston, out to Pensacola.  That means the coach's show, the Monday night program, and all pregame coverage.

As they get better, I'm hoping that expands further into central Georgia.  If you're blasting it to people within a 100 mile radius, you're bound to get people who might be interested in actually buying tickets and coming to Jacksonville.

For a Jags fan, it's REALLY difficult not to get excited about the things happening around this team, and for perspective fans, it's going to be tough not to develop an interest.

I agree
To points earlier, Orlando fans (other than diehard northern ie: steelers and pats fan) gravitate to who evers winning.

Jags or Bucs.....

Southern Georgia is so alienated from Atlanta that's no problem.

I have lots of relatives there and they're 'Dawgs and Jags fans.

I see to it!

Just win Jags!
