It looks like for telvin smith they would use him for obvious passing situations. He seems to have the speed  really keep up with them

This. For this season he will be used as a Nickel WLB for obvious passing situations. Obviously, until he adds some bulk he isn't an every down player.

and for a 5th round pick if he can succeed in year one doing that, we got a steal. 3rd down conversions down the middle would kill us last year

I'll tell you what... Linder is going to start. He's nasty.

 

And Bortles has some REAL potential. I think he's going to be great. I like every pick pretty much. Chris Smith definitely needs some work, but he has some moves and I have nothing to judge Bowanko.

 

Honestly, Bortles might win the starting job..

the TAMU tape on chris smith was like meh, He let the Tackles run him around the QB and he when he had a straight shot on running plays he hesitated to keep the edge, then on the plays that ran straight to him he went in and got gobbled up the RB just ran around him.

The first time I watched it I wasnt impressed because I thought he was playing C.  Then I noticed he wears number 70 and he was playing LG in this game so I watched it again.  AD dominated the RG an C but when he lined up over Bowanko he held is own.  I didnt really see him miss any blocks the whole game, he looks solid.

Bowanka does look solid! Hopefully we can have some serious competition at center

Agreed. I actually wonder if the plan is for him to gain a little weight have him be situational cover against all the big TE's that have become en vogue.  Sort of be a hybrid Saftey/LB.

That's definitely an area of weakness. It would be nice to have a guy capable of covering TEs. Lord knows we've gotten gashed enough times there.

yeah other than that huge wiff at like 1:55 on Donald where he just flies by him and something a little later when they blitz and luckily another linemen is their to help chip him Bowanko man handled everyone on that team.  Not sure why they didn't run the ball to the left side more.
