Jags fans have to be some of the more insecure fans...while I hate reading negative articles about our team too...but it is not like he made up a ton of lies or went to the tired old "attendance" issues.

 

He stated Bortles is popular now but if he does not play well he will not be...is that not true?...and you try to deny it...but if Bortles comes out and plays bad in his first few games there were be way more fans than there should be on here calling him a bust.

 

His shot of us not being an "NFL" team while below the belt is not that far off...most people would agree that our over all talent level has not been truly NFL level in a few years...we have had some good players but from top to bottom we have been somewhere between horrible NFL team and really good college team...IMO

 

So no I don't think the article was called for...I do agree that it is not the most well written...but it was not as completely inaccurate as some want to believe.

Not defending the article per say...just pointing out that a lot of people are taking offense and calling it garbage when it is pretty accurate...we have stunk for quite a while...our arrow is point up but until we can show it on the field then it is all talk right now.

It's not "pretty accurate".

what is so inaccurate about it?  The number of winning seasons...our record the last 3 years...the fact that Bortles is popular now but if he does not play well he will not be popular...that our overall talent level has not been very "NFL" quality...I am curious...

Of course with a column title "Cheap Seats" that leads me to believe that this old school orlandian fin fan probably wrote an article whinning about the fact building I-4 was the end of the world. Some people never leave that living in the past mentality. Probably really annoyed when Central Casting at Disney turned him down. No Dumbo suit big enough or the Navy leaving Orlando and that closed his favorite bars off Colonial.

HA HA...why do Jags fans seem to get so hurt when someone writes an article that has a negative outlook on the team...are we that thin skinned?  I am not defending the guys article at all...I have been a fan of this team since the minute it was announced we got them...I have lived in Jacksonville my entire life and am currently raising 2 boys here and never plan to move...I love my city and my team...

 

It just cracks me up that people get so butthurt when anyone writes an article that paints the team in a negative light...and the ironic thing is...most of you trashing this guy now would be rushing to quote him if he was to write a glowing article about our team in 6 months...

 

I mean seriously...did everyone think with one or two good drafts that the national media was just going to stop and fall in love with us?  We have yet to show it on the field...when we continue to pack the stadium and can start making the play offs and winning the division on a consistent basis these types of articles will disappear.  Until that happens, like it or not, there is tons of fodder out there to make these types of articles.

 

I used to get upset about it then I realized that it will be this way until the team puts a better product on the field and starts winning meaningful games year in and year out.  So now when I read national articles I tend to look at the items they present and not how they present them...maybe some should try that.

Sounds like a guy who is a little bitter that the Jags are initiating the process to "steal" some of these transplant Buc/Dolphin fans from Orlando.

 

To be honest, I couldn't care less if we gain more fans from Orlando. They will just be bandwagoneers who think they are entitled to some Jaguar "home games" because they are a tourist hub.

lol @ this being a 'national article'.  This isn't ESPN or NFLN.  It's the Orlando Sentinel.

 

His jokes weren't even funny.  If they were funny, I'd be okay with it.  But they're all rehashed jokes that sound like they came off of the Popsicle sticks my 7 year old daughters eat in the summer.  On second thought -- those are still funnier.

 

The guy does nothing but take cheap shots.  He sounds like a bitter old hack who hasn't really watched Football since Dan Marino retired.  

 

It's not even an article.  It's an insult to sports journalism.  Fluffed with terrible jokes at the sake of a franchise.  Even if the article was replaced with the stinking tacks, I'd find it an appalling piece of journalism.
