Quote:^ is that your way of saying he wasent worth drafting
That's my way of saying Justin Blackmon is a goner after bringing in a 3rd pass catcher.

Did not know he was that big.....wow

Not good value.
Wasn't Tyler Larsen still available?? Seemed to be a good value at the same position (Center)....if he was still available.
Yeah Larsen is still avail.

Welp.... if nothing else, it should light at least a very small fire under Brewster's rear end to step it up.

Ok, well then he's Meester's clear heir to being our top receiving threat.

I think Bowanko has a lot longer arms than Larsen.

I like that he can slide to G for depth. He should have a shot to compete for depth at both.

Just from taking a quick look at him, it looks like he plays with good leverage, but has bad feet. Probably susceptible to speed rushers or rushers with a good first step. Stout at the point and good in space. Definitely a better center than guard.

The call they did with him on the website cracked me up. I know nothing about him but trust Dave

he has pretty good hands and if he gets hands on you you tend to stay blocked but I was worried by how little drive he managed to create in the run game
reminded me of travis swanson solid in pass protection and if he blocks you he shuts you down and very rarely gets beaten in hand fighting or driven backwards
but he doesn't drive you back either and he is sometimes a step to slow and he whiffed on a few blocks, particulary on an inside move where he was meant to double team donald where he was too slow and ended up on his [BLEEP].
also doesn't seem to be the most mobile in getting to the second level, don't think he is an immediate starter but looks like a good development project so good value at 6.
like you said probably a better centre than guard and if they work on his footwork and he adds a bit of strength (he has the frame for it) looks like he could be a good selection

...From the horses mouth - I think this pretty much sums it up. Leave it to the professionals.
Bowanko was only moved back to Center his Senior year because of the lack of adequate talent at the position. The lackluster recruiting job by the previous coaching regime left the offensive line in shambles. Bowanko excelled at Guard but had to move to center after the other players struggled at the position. The OL situation this past season at UVA was a mess.
And you guys do realize that the video when he trips on air was actually posted by Bowanko himself.

I like his athleticism in space and getting to the second level. He also looks like he can be an effective guy at sealing off the back side in the ZBS. It looks like once he gets locked on a guy he's good but quick interior lineman look like they give him issues because his feet are not great.
Overall he looks like a solid pick that will definitely be in the mix at the C spot.

Quote:Some more footage of Bowanko. Two of the absolute worst football games I have ever had to endure right there. He's going to come in and work harder than the next guy. First one in last one to leave type of player. Blue collar. More athletic than you would expect from someone with his frame. Feet and technique could use some work but has tons of raw athletic talent. Played AAU basketball during his adolescent growth spurt (5-10 to 6-4) so he retained some of that quickness through out the transition. Smart kid (Finishing up his masters) Student of the game. Loves the game and Hates to lose. Has gone under the radar his entire career after being dealt some tough cards with some struggling teams. (Aside from the Orange Bowl Season vs. Auburn) Was one of the top OL in VA coming out of HS but never received the recognition due to a 1-9 record his senior year. He really started to come into his own at Gaurd in 2011 on an experienced line (w/ Pasztor) but was moved to center after the line struggled. Graded out as the top lineman in 95% of the 2013 season but was overshadowed by the struggling line rotation.

Thats okay though. He prefers it that way. Tell him that he can't do it and he will. Give him a chance and i'll bet he will surprise you.
