Quote:I think they had Robinson rated way higher than where he was drafted... Thats why we pulled the trigger

Yupp. Caldwell said as much in the press conference immediately after the pick.
The right side of the line is gonna be nasty!! Gotta love it.
Quote:I'm hoping his familiarity plays a big role and he knows Linder's limitations and strengths. On paper though, it just seems weird to me. Its like, our LG/C are both small/athletic guys, while our RG/RT are mauler/nasty guys.

Isn't that sort of normal??

You want maulers on the right side, since the majority of running plays tend to go to that side.

Nice series Dawg.

Great to find players and not be afraid to get them.

You are so right about maulers and this whole O line is shaping up with attitude.

Remember what Vic use to say?

"It's a Tough Game, for Tough Guys"

Generally speaking if your only a mauler and struggle in pass pro you'll probably play on the right side. If your an all around stud Guard you'll more then likely play on the left side. Essentially the same situation as offensive tackles.

Just thinking about some of the best guards in the last couple of decades most of them played on the left. Hutchinson, Faneca, Mankins, Allen.

Correct me if I'm wrong, I was just going off the top of my head.

As for Linder, I think he will slide in nicely at RG and him and Pasztor will do work!
Not so much anymore with the L and R tackles, Both of them have to be good especially in this NFL with D coordinators moving the best Pass rusher to the side with the weakest pass defender

"2013 Miami Offensive MVP."

A guard offensive MVP? Haha

It be like that sometimes lol
Quote:Yup, looks like that quote from Ryan O was indeed about not going O-Line tomorrow.

After the Bortles pick, I only believe it when they read it at the podium.
I didn't really know much about him, but having watched a few games, hot damn! He is a nasty, mean football player.

I love the way he gets into the 2nd level, way too many OL shadow box with LBs in space. Linder smashes them and plays through the whistle every time. In every game watch how many defenders want no part of him.

He is probably my favorite draft pick so far.

It's just not a draft until you take a Guard.

Brandon looked like he had a nice game against one Aaron Donald. I'm impressed with how he beats DL to a spot to gain an angle on them. Looks like a perfect fit for a zone-blocking running scheme

Looks like from the vid, he finishes strong and pass protects aight too. Hope he can earn a starting gig.
2.27 is a thing of beauty.

He was the offensive MVP for his team last season.

They should add another oline guy for competition. Someone who can fight for RT or G

He's better suited to be on the inside, but he looks like he CAN step in at RT in a pinch. I really like his versatility. Shows that he's just a good football player that understands the game.
I've seen Brandon's entire career starting back to HS.

He can play.  Was UM's best prospect over the past few years.  Think Chris Myers.  He can play G or C.  He'll have a sneaky long career and here in Jacksonville will start right away.  Better than Brewster and Rackley.  Big kid.  Long (never played tackle, but was capable in college), strong, finishes.  Just needs technique work.  Was the highest graded lineman at Miami in nearly every game the past two seasons.  Was my sleeper OL prospect coming into the draft.  He's always been "sneaky good" ever since he was in HS and I don't expect that trend to change.

Great pick...and good maneuvering of the draft.  Interior OL was on a run and they got one of the guys that will start for them for a long time.

larrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry!!!!

I stated all off season that the Jaguars were going to draft their first Miami Hurricane in this draft.

I just thought it would be Stephen Morris in the 5th round.

I think this guy will develop into a good pass blocker.

by the way, the best prospect on Miami's team is Stacy Coley.

guaranteed top 10 pick in the 16 draft
