You know at first I was pretty disappointed with the pick. As I've had time to think about the pick, I'm getting excited. I think we'll have a

Guy confident in the pocket, as others have said he needs to work on a lot of things still. I do think with time to groom he will be our guy.
Quote:I still don't get all the excitement for Johnny Manziel. I call him Johnny Walker because he was too hung over to attend Manning's QB camp last offseason. That is a scary thing to me. If he will blow off a football camp because he got too hammered, is it that big of a stretch to think he would blow off other important things like practices, studying, or perhaps a game?
Yup!!!

And all we have heard from Dave, Gus and Jedd is that he is a "clean" pick.

No flags in any boxes and was mature enough to light it up at combine.

That remark to Shadrick on the ride in about the beater he is driving is telling.

Shadrick said " Time for an upgrade?"

Blake responds "Naw, I'll get it fixed"

All I remember from Blaines early pressers were the same four talking points and the look of someone very uncomfortable and immature.

I wish Blaine all the best with the San Francisco.

Let the Reign of " BORTLES KOMBAT " begin.

I hadn't heard about the car thing.

You remember the last guy who drove a beater and refused to upgrade?

Some little defensive end named Tony Brackens.

This is a good omen!
He is the only big named Qb's who had the balls to throw at the combine

I have to believe that this resonated to Gus's very core.

Gotta Love it.

Let the fun begin, Texans on the clock

Quote:OK, so on the surface it's not as exciting as Johnny Foosball.

Maybe Lindsey in the Pool will help even it out during games.

LOL, I remember when it was said Gene Smith was highly touted around the league.

I honestly think they were secretly making fun of how awful he was.
Should also be noted that had Bortles fallen to them (never would have happened) the Patriots would have taken him over Garropolo..according to Rapaport. He was their #1 target.

Quote:Not a big fan of this pick.  None of the entries in our draft contest nailed Jaguar's unexpected pick. It was really shocking while I was covering the draft.

I don't think Blake Bortles was graded as high as Blaine Gabbert.  I can only hope everyone is wrong, and the team is right.

So you're going to ignore the fact that he was thought to be in the running for the first overall pick to Houston for about 2 months while everybody was talking about Clowney's work ethic issues.

Cool.
Quote:No not at all, noting like Gabbert. Blaine is actually a much better athlete, but can't feel or avoid pressure to save his life, that's an innate 6th/7th sense that seems to be god given.
And the thing is whenever Blaine did leave the pocket he was ridiculously clumsy. Bortles is a ball player, he can carry the ball. Reminds me a lot of Garrard in that aspect, which is a good thing.

Exactly. When Gabbert ran to his left it was all over. When Bortles runs to his left he can still throw it accurately. His accuracy on the run is impressive. Tony Khan gave Caldwell some statistics that basically said the same thing.
