He seems to think we should've drafted someone else and that, with the higher graded players available, a lot of pressure has been put on Bortles.

This is the correct opinion. In essence, Caldwell will now have a losing battle on his hands. There is no way at all he will be able to keep Bortles away from the same throng of northeast Florida football fans that demand immediate results from the number three over-all pick.

All previous Jaguars' quarterback draft picks in round one have become almost immediate starters. If Caldwell doesn't believe that's possible with Bortles, he concedes he screwed up drafting him. The player simply doesn't fit the need.

Nice knowin' ya, Dave. You'll wish you had taken Jake by September.

Here's more on the matter:

The pick caps a dizzying rise for Bortles. He was an afterthought in the draft process as recently as December, virtually an unknown compared to Teddy Bridgewater and Johnny Manziel. Now Bortles is the first quarterback off the board and a new face of a franchise.

Bortles will be expected to play sooner than later. Chad Henne is on the roster, but teams don't take a player No. 3 overall to sit on the bench for long, if at all. The Jaguars' offense doesn't exactly present a situation that is ripe for early success.

"It’s such an important position in this league and you want to do it right," Caldwell said. "That’s what we’re about. … We have to make it work. We can’t just throw him out there. We’ve seen what happens when that happens."

Who is Bryan Fischer?

Can we have a link to his draft grades so we can see his rationale?!?
