The push for Mack (center) shows that Caldwell expects for a rookie QB named Manziel to be playing from the start of the season.
Don't we have Manziel's old center on the roster?

Quote:This sounds like bad news.  Gene Smith always knew who he was going to take in the draft.

"With the 3rd pick in the 2014 NFL draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars select... Mister Cobble, DT, Kentucky."

"I know some people don't think he was worth a 1st round pick, but he was moving up on boards.  He was the best player available.  And we really think Oakland was interested in taking him.  There wasn't any room to trade down." said Jaguars GM Gene Smith in an alternate universe.  "And people say I don't take SEC players.  See, I do!  They just have to be at the right point.  And Mr. Cobble was there at the right time."

Classic!

I'm predicting Gene 2.0 will take a DT. I sure hope I'm wrong.

Quote:You'd better start crafting your meltdowns just in case they don't trade out of the pick.

If they stay at the pick and take one of the 4 players I cited previously, I'll be fine.

Trading down for extra picks is my 1st hope, but if it doesn't happen (and Houston doesn't trade down) and we get one of the 4, I'll be happy.

For me to be happy we have to wind up on top or close. In other words.

You got it right on the spot brother. Patrick Lewis.

What 4?

Bridgewater/Manziel/Clowney/Watkins?

Definitely not Watkins.

Matthews, IIRC.

Close,

Bridge, Manziel, Clowney, Matthews.

No reason to take a WR like Watkins 3rd overall in a draft stocked full of quality WR's.
So I guess we should be prepared for the meltdown then.  Cause it's most likely going to be Mack unless Clowney somehow falls there.  Either that or Watkins.

Matthews/Robinson are two that'd probably cause me to have a meltdown.  An offensive tackle... two years in a row?  You've gotta be better than that Dave.

hmmm has the Manzy prep began before we thought it had?
Then it must be somebody they expect to be available.  Not Watkins or Clowney or Matthews.

Jacksonville Jaguars general manager David Caldwell and head coach Gus Bradley know who they are expecting to take at No. 3 overall in the 2014 NFL Draft.

I would hope that the day before the draft, the Jaguars would know who they would select at 3/who they expect to be there.

Caldwell said at the press conference they had wrapped up the evaluation process two weeks prior.
I cant wait to just find out who it is....
