Almost there. 2 days to go, so here are your second rounders. Five of them were easy.

In a few years, I think Cyprien could be on this list.

Enjoy.

Regardless of the nonsense he's spouting out there currently, I think MJD is the best 2nd round pick this franchise has ever had.  His misfortune was being drafted at a point in franchise history when the teams were really bad.  Being the face of the franchise during that period makes this easy.

This one is tough. MJD was one of the NFLs best playmakers for 4 or 5 years, but wasn't our best running back ever. Brackens was our best pass rusher ever, but had a short career. Rashean Mathis was the only 1st team all pro, but he couldn't sustain that level of play very long. Meester has played and started more games in a Jaguars uniform than anyone. Daryl Smith was consistently good for a long time. And Maurice Williams is corn.
Tie for me between Jones-Drew, Smith, and Brackens.

All good to semi-great talents.

I've been dreading this one for a while now. Who is better; Daryl Smith or Tony Brackens?

To me, the best player is Jones-Drew based on points produced alone but I get the argument for the other guys. It is fun to go 'round and 'round with these players and the memories that they elicit though.

I didn't cast a vote for best 6th round pick because to me, they were all bad.   No one deserved a vote.

This one is tough for the opposite reason.   They're all good.   I can't eliminate anyone.

I vote Mojo, because he led the league in rushing.   None of the others were ever best in the league at their position.   Mojo arguably was.

So my vote goes to Maurice Jones Drew.

I know MoJo is very good....

But I'd vote for either Brackens or Mathis here. They played premium positions in the NFL and played at a very high level in their prime's. MoJo playing RB a far less premium position has to be factored in.

Brackens was part of consistent winning football and multiple playoff wins as well.

Mathis tackled like a girl.

...and Deion was even worse in that realm. So what?

Agree.

And to think, with as deep as this draft we should expect this kind of production or caliber player out of our third rounder this year.

I feel like MJD should get the nod based on point and yardage production alone. Granted, his role was to make yards and score points but he did it very well. 81 total Touchdowns over eight seasons is a nice thing for a team to have in it's pocket. Also, Jones-Drew had one - one!!! -season where he didn't rack up 1,000+ yards from scrimmage and that was in 2012.

I'm not sure what your issue is with Jonathan Cyprien but you come off as someone that wants him to fail simply to feed you ego.

You're basically insulting this user for having high hopes for a player on the team.

That's the schtick. Wash, rinse, repeat.
This is the first really tough one I think.  Finally getting to pick between really good players.  Hard to vote against MJD.  Great kicker returner / backup RB his first few years.  then turned into a great starter.  TD producer.  Admittedly I was never as big a fan of MJD off the field and the way he left has definitely soured me some.  So hard to not let that cloud my vote.

In the end I went with Brackens.  MJD played at a high level longer and more consistently obviously.  But I thought Brackens at his peak was just as good if not better than MJD at his peak... and Brackens was doing it at a much more important position.  The only pass rusher we've ever had that other teams really had to fear.  That 1999 season he was a monster.  I still remember that pick 6 late in the game against the Ravens to put us in the lead.

Went with Brackens. My second favorite player behind Fred Taylor. People mention his monster 1999 season, but also remember his 11 sack year in 2001 even though his season was shortened. Soo explosive off the edge.
All great picks so I pick a 6 way tie.

Brackens

I'm writing in Cordell Taylor. Dude was a beast! :woot:

:yucky:

Brackens.
