As relayed through Gregg Rosenthal...

I sit right behind Casserly when he's in Los Angeles, and know how much research goes into his mock drafts. He spends all day on the phones with executives around the league; it's not coming out of thin air.

Casserly doesn't see Manziel as a top-10 talent and that view is shared by most teams, Casserly says. That is a long-held view for many of the decision makers. Casserly spoke with eight executives back in January. Only one of the eight believed Manziel was a top-15 talent.

Take this for whatever it's worth.

All it takes is for one team to view Manziel as a top 15 talent to prove Casserly wrong.

As long as that one GM/executive isn't Caldwell, it's fine with me.

Here is Casserly's latest mock..dated today.

He also doesn't think Bridgewater is drafted in the first, either.

Casserly need to retire his old, conservative view on how to build a football team. The last thing I would do is trust Casserly's take on QBs. Just look up his record.
He won't be there 2nd round.
If he's right.  A trade down + 2015 1st rounder +  Manziel + extra 2014 picks is an even better result than Manziel at #3.

The early whispers that few see any of these QBs as top 10 material are beginning to gain momentum as the whispers turn to chatter.

It's possible they're not going to be forthcoming with Casserly knowing he's going to be teleblasting their views to bolster his on-air credibility.

I don't disagree with the mindset that there isn't a QB who is really top 5 or possibly top 10 material, but there are a couple of guys who could find themselves off the board in that range.   I don't think teams are being completely honest when talking to anyone in the media about their evaluations.  Why would they be?

Casserly should be the last person one should listen to when discussing QBs.

All it takes is one....
Thanks for posting this Bullseye, I hadn't read this yet.

In fact when I first started skimming your OP, I thought you were referring to another article I read based on a similar study.

Quote:The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel polled 20 NFL personnel executives, asking their views on how Manziel’s professional career would play out. The verdict: eight projected hit and 12 guessed miss. In other words, front office members are split on the former Heisman Trophy winner.

In a poll of 17 NFL personnel men asking for the best five quarterbacks in the class, Manziel earned eight first-place votes, more than Blake BortlesTeddy BridgewaterDerek Carr, and Zach Mettenberger.

<p style="font-family:Arial, 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, sans-serif;color:rgb(51,51,51);">The final point totals revealed Manziel with the highest amount at 68,  followed by Bortles (61), Carr (49), Bridgewater (41), Jimmy Garappolo (16), Mettenberger (six), A.J. McCarron and Aaron Murray (five), Tom Savage (three), and Logan Thomas (one).

If the Texans draft Clowney and then draft Manziel with their 2nd round pick I'm quitting the NFL and filing a lawsuit against the other 31 teams.

Yeah didn't he draft David Carr at 1?

Not a chance. Prisco says he could see Dave trading down a bit, picking up another pick, and then drafting Manziel. Prisco has made it clear that he doesn't like Johnny so there may be some truth behind that... I'd be ecstatic.

Well now there's a report saying that JFF won't make it past the Browns pick. If JFF is Caldwell's guy he needs to take him at 3 if the report is true.

Who knows whats real and what isn't at this point.....so much lying and posturing going on.

I know. That's why I offer those last 5 words in my post as a disclaimer.

Best case scenario if you ask me. I doubt Cleveland lets him go past 4 though.

This just may be very good news for Caldwell and company if they don't want Manziel. If a scenario works out where a team wants Manziel on their roster, they'll need to jump over Cleveland and just take a guess who is standing in that landing spot.

Granted, this 'report' is probably as accurate as me doing Linear Algebra but it makes for nice dream scenario building.
