3 days now to go. So here we go with the third round. Best Jaguar pick.

Went Beasley but could understand Vince.


Inb4 someone says Anger.

Was tempted to include Anger.

Manuwai based on longevity and effectiveness. 

 

I'm a little disappointed Anger wasn't an option. 

I always felt Manuwai was pretty underrated and probably would have made some Pro Bowls if he played in a bigger market. He'd get my vote.

Manuwai.

 

That was the perfect pick for the Round and Position. The guy locks down the spot for a decade. Granted, he won't show up on stat sheets but the man was a human snowplow. I miss him.

He was basically everything Rackley was supposed to be. One thing I was surprised about the first time I met Manuwai was how short he was. He was maybe 6'2.

Exactly. As for how tall he was, I can't help but think that simply helped him. He was probably as wide as he was tall, but extremely powerful. I can see his stature allowing him to get underneath Defensive Linemen and walk them backwards.

These polls really illustrate how BAD our drafting has been. 

 

Seriously.....20 YEARS worth to pick from, and theres been scraps to choose from pretty much in every round of these polls so far.

I am sure it did help him against alot of  those tackles.

 

He also had an attitude that is good to have in the trenches.

For real! Our drafts have been awful! The second round poll should be a good one though. I went Beasley. I became a Jags fan when the smacked the Jets about 12 years ago. It was like 41-0 and i still remember Aaron Beasley retuning a pick six for a TD and ever since that day, I started following the team and here I am posting on the MB. Go jags.

Vince Manuwai was a murderer in the running game.

Agreed.  It's even more glaring since Coughlin left.  Out of the 7 polls the only non Coughlin picks will be Scobee (a kicker in the 5th who Wade and Craft should have been neck and neck with), Manuwai and MAYBE a second round pick if Brackens and Meester get beaten out.

After round one, Coughlin left plenty to be desired.

Not saying Coughlin was amazing either, but his late round picks were better than the next 2 regime's, especially Gene Smith's.

Rounds 4-7 you dont expect as much as far as drafting but this is where you take note on how bad some of our drafts have been.  In 20 years, we've only had one real longterm impactful player from the 3rd round.  And only a handful more that were even productive.  Thats poor.

 

I'm glad you've got Ayodele on here.  He had another 4/5 productive years starting in the league after he left us.

In hindsight, Ayodele struck me as a player who was incorrectly used by the coaching staff. It's a gut feeling since I haven't watched the man play in probably a decade, but it seems as if someone were to be a little creative and move him around some, he would have been a lot more productive while he was here.

 

Does that make any sense at all?

When he left he played ILB for the Cowboys, which is not all that different from OLB in a 4-3.  So he was either misused by two teams, or his pass rushing ability wasn't that good.

To me, he had a lot of that "looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane" to him.
